You read about it last week, saw a couple of rough renderings. But today comes your first look at the Flyknit Air Max 90, a shoe rife with potential if ever there were one.
Marrying together classic aesthetics and innovative technology, the Flyknit Air Max 90 swaps in a seamless, all-woven construction, replacing the usual leather, mesh and/or suede. A Hyperfuse film delineates the model’s signature mudguard without adding bulk, and the whole thing is built atop a cushy, Nike Free Run Mens cored-out foam midsole. Best of all, the shoe Adidas ZX Flux Femme looks to be launching in the AM90’s iconic Nike Free 5.0 Femme “Infrared” colorway — that beloved mix of white, grey, black and bright red.
The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Prez arrives tomorrow, a colorful commemorative edition of Ken Griffey Jr’s beloved first signature shoe.
Marking the twentieth anniversary of the AGM1 — and the “Griffey in ’96” ad campaign that helped promote it — while celebrating Junior’s induction into the Hall of Fame in late-July, the shoe boasts an American mix of red and white accents against a navy blue upper. Gold embellishments and a gum outsole add a conspicuous touch, while presidential imagery underscores the theme on the heel and insole.
One of the crown jewels of a weekend full of dope if underrated drops, the Air Jordan 12 Wolf Grey arrives momentarily.
The fresh colorway Nike Air Presto Femme is brand new, but the color-blocking and Nike Roshe Run Womensexecution are classic XII. The grey upper sports a distinctive style of leather, a sort of short-grain nubuck, while a white leather forefoot and occasional powder blue striping add a pop of cool, complementary contrast. Yes, it’s a first time colorway, but you could easily mistake it for an OG.
The Air Jordan 8 Championship Pack, an unjustifiably maligned collection if ever there were one, hits stores this weekend.
Celebrating Michael Jordan’s third NBA championship, won while wearing the Air Jordan 8, both colorways draw inspiration from classic celebratory accessories. The off-white colorway, stunning in a premium pearlized leather, rocks fingerprinted gold accents as an homage to the Larry O’Brien Trophy, the moment it’s handed to the winning team. The black pair, meanwhile, replete Nike Air Max 90 Femme Rose with multicolored speckling, vibes with a Roshe Run Mens Black confetti-inspired aesthetics.
Earlier this week we previewed the Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0, the second generation of the foam-soled, modernized AM1. It was a departure, sure, but now we have our first glimpse of the Nike Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 SI — a mouthful and the real game-changer.
The reimagined model sport the foam midsole and sleek, largely seamless upper we’ve come to expect from Ultras, but that’s only the half of it.
The ripstop synthetic construction seems to feature a translucent tint, a window into the lining beneath, and it’s overlaid with rubberized taping that delineates the seams, replacing traditional panels. Finally, though we’ll need a more detailed look to confirm, the shoe appears to be of the slimmer, deconstructed variety.
The Soldier 10, LeBron’s latest signature shoe,Adidas ZX Flux Donne is already making waves at retail, with the Nike Air Max 90 Womens Hyperfuse NIKEiD and black-and-gum editions selling-out left and right. And now the most . . . conspicuous pair to date has surfaced.
Behold — the Nike LeBron Soldier 10 Kay Yow, the latest team-up between LeBron and the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation, a fundraising arm named for the late NC State Basketball coach. The shoe sports bright, bold pink throughout the breathable mesh upper. Darker pink complements on the triple-strap system — the model’s entirely laceless, remember — while solid white works the midsole, and black and white commingle on the branding. Subtle it’s not, but this should work.
It’s looking more and more like the Nike Air Max Zero, far from being the ultra-scarce, ever elusive model that it’s been up to this point — it’s only launched in a Nike Air Max Classic BW Femme few inline colorways — is about to Nike Roshe Run Donne become ubiquitous.
We’ve already previewed six Nike Air Max 95 Homme upcoming “Essential” colorways, and now we add three more women’s-exclusives to the pile. In fact, the three colorways pictured today — which pioneer a slightly new color-blocking strategy — are just a fraction of another eight or so that as yet lack genuine photos. Harumph.
