While the overall look hasn't changed dramatically, Adidas ZX Flux Womens the new adidas Originals Superstar Boost (releasing tomorrow) have been given a super-comfy and clever update. Hidden underneath the classic sneaker is a BOOST midsole; offering extra comfort and support for those pounding the pavement, but who don't necessarily want to wear running shoes. Remaining faithful to the iconic sneaker's original design, the only hint you'll see of this tech update is a glimpse Nike Cortez Femme of BOOST in the arch—seemingly squeezed through the sole like the marshmallow in a s'more. The three stripes and shell-toe remain the focal points of this go-anywhere sneaker
Only a month ago, iconic German sportswear brand adidas unveiled a progressive new materials initiative known as Futurecraft. Aside from its stunning, future-forward aesthetics, the debut sneaker under the Futurecraft banner employed Nike Air Max Thea Dames a 3D-printed midsole that could be uniquely tailored to individual owners. Today, they've unveiled their latest wonder in the line, the limited edition Leather Originals Superstar. And while it might not appear to be as recognizable an advancement, the beautiful sneakers are more than just a new version of a classic silhouette.
Imagined in collaboration with industrial designer Alexander Taylor and Belgian shoe designer Joachim Nike Air Max 90 Womens de Callata?, the Futurecraft Leather Originals Superstar actually sport a complete seamless upper. On the surface, this translates to comfort and flexibility, but underneath it is a precise digital milling technique normally utilized on metals and resins. Here, it transforms one single piece of leather—a material long employed by the performance brand—and minimizes the use of adhesive. There's something Adidas ZX 700 Donna familiar here (the Superstar has been around for 45 years), but clearly improved upon.
Adidas has more planned releases in the Futurecraft series over the next coming months, but it's safe to say the first two were a visual and technological success. Only 45 pairs of the Leather Originals Superstar will be produced.
One of the most recognizable sneaker silhouettes of all time, adidas' Stan Smith tennis shoe has seen many an iteration Adidas Superstar Femme Fleur and upgrade since it was officially renamed (from the Haillet) in 1971. The latest reimagining of the classic sneaker features a collaboration with another heritage brand: the Horween Leather Company. Under their adidas Originals product category this new collection features an updated Stan Smith Classic and Mid. Both have been crafted from a single deconstructed piece of leather upper—accented by Adidas ZX Flux Femme Fleur an over cast stitching heel detail and two gold foil adidas Originals logos. The Stan Smith design DNA is present and accounted for, but the refined details and Horween's use of premium Essex leather lend more of a luxuriant, dressed-up look. It's definitely worth noting that we've seen how Horween leather ages—and it's beautiful. This means these sneakers will grow old gracefully.
