The Toronto Blue Jays have added a veteran presence to their infield, signing 44-year-old Omar Vizquel to a one-year contract. The team made the news official through a press release on Monday. Vizquel had earlier confirmed reports of the deal via Twitter, writing "Ill be with the Toronto Blue Jays in spring training this year to earn a spot." According to the release, the veteran shortstop has been inked to a minor league deal with an invite to Major League Spring Training. Long viewed as one of the greatest defensive shortstops in baseball, Vizquel was limited to just 58 games with the Chicago White Sox last season, batting .251 with no home runs and eight runs batted-in. He did provide the White Sox with sound defence, however, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He made $1.75 million with Chicago last season. We have to be on our toes and play hard." North Bay has already battled back in the playoffs after being down 3-1.
