BLOOMINGTON, Minn. cheap jerseys . -- When Ricky Rubio held his introductory news conference this week, he jokingly promised that he would keep his credit card in his pocket on his first trip to the Mall of America so his family didnt buy everything in sight. That didnt keep him from busting it out for a good cause Saturday. As a hectic first week in his new hometown drew to a close, Rubio participated in his first charitable endeavour for the Minnesota Timberwolves, going shopping at a Build-A-Bear store with a three-year-old boy whose family lost almost everything when a tornado ripped through North Minneapolis. "For these guys, whatever (they need)," Rubio said. When the Spanish point guard showed up to meet the McPherson family, little Taj was, of course, wearing a Dwyane Wade jersey. Hand-in-hand, Rubio and the little boy stuffed a brand new bear, then went to various stations in the store to pick out clothes and get him all stitched up. The bear went in a box that Rubio autographed, and Taj, who was extremely shy at first, gave him a big high-five when the day was done. Its been a whirlwind week for Rubio, who is scheduled to return to Spain for the summer on Monday. But he didnt hesitate to help when he heard the familys story. "Its so fun," Rubio said. "I love the kids. Hes amazing. I know sometimes, I dont know why, bad things happen. Everybody has to help to try to be unselfish and part of the (community)." The McPhersons were staying with their grandfather when the tornado levelled his home, wiping out nearly all of their possessions. A local project called Urban Homeworks lined the family up with a new place to live, and Rubio and the Timberwolves got Taj the bear, and gave the family, including father Trevor and mother Shara, gift certificates for dinner and Target, and a gift card for the mall. "Everything has been coming along pretty well, actually," Trevor McPherson said. "Sometimes you have to go through trials and tribulations to go along further in life. Its devastating. A lot of homes and a lot of people over in North Minneapolis is going through a lot. ... But today has been a blessing." Rubio also got on the court for the first time with some of his new teammates, working out for about two hours Saturday morning with a group that included Kevin Love, No. 2 overall pick Derrick Williams, Wes Johnson and Martell Webster. The session left Rubio wishing the season started earlier, saying he could "play, like, tomorrow." He seemed to make a good first impression. Love did not participate in any contact work while recovering from oral surgery, but he watched the scrimmage and believes Rubio will fit right in. "Hes a guy who sees passes ahead of time and puts guys in a position to score. ... Hes going to be extremely fun to play with and a guy Im looking forward to playing with," Love said. Timberwolves fans are growing nervous that Love, their first all-star since Kevin Garnett, could be on the move in the next couple of years to a more competitive team. But seeing the additions of Rubio and Williams on the floor Saturday seemed to bolster his hope for the future of a franchise that has lost 132 games in the last two seasons. "Im very encouraged," Love said. "It was great energy in the gym today. Hopefully we can keep that through the next 10 years." The core of Love, Rubio, Williams, and Michael Beasley seems to have energized a downtrodden fan base, and Rubio may have put another one on the bandwagon at the Mall of America. After spending an hour or so with the flashy point guard at Build-A-Bear, Trevor McPherson said Taj might be ditching that Wade jersey. "Hes got to have that Rubio jersey," the boys father said. "Thats mandatory." That made Rubio chuckle. "Trevor told me hes going to come to the games and try to support us," he said. "Were not going to disappoint him." cheap jerseys from china . Eric Hosmer added an RBI single for the Royals, who were able to earn a split in the series and won for only the second time in their last eight games overall. Luke Hochevar (4-6) worked seven effective innings, allowing two runs on six hits to pick up his first win since defeating Minnesota on May 1. nfl jerseys china . -- The Golden State Warriors say an MRI on point guard Stephen Currys left ankle shows a bone bruise and his status is officially day to day. http://www.jerseysnflwholesale.us.com/ . The Braves set a season high with 16 hits and matched their high for runs. The game was tied at 3 before the Braves opened the sixth with three straight hits off Dan Jennings (0-1), loading the bases. wholesale jerseys . According to the Hosuton Chronicle, Ching has decided to report to the Impact, the team that selected him first overall in the MLS expansion draft. jerseys from china . Murdochs Aberdeen rink beat Rasmus Stjerne of Denmark 7-6 at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria. After a bye week, Toronto FC returns to action on Saturday as they play their first game at BMO Field this season, but the teams new found resilience and determination will face a stern test as the reigning MLS Champions arrive in town. The Galaxy travel to Toronto unbeaten so far this season, with two wins and a draw from three matches played, as they look to create MLS history and become the first team to win the MLS Cup three years in a row. Its an achievement that is a very real possibility. In the second half of last season they were the best team in the league, and in my opinion, they remain so this time around. LAs depth has been tested in the opening weeks of the year with key players missing and also balancing MLS and Champions League action. Last weekend they were missing Landon Donovan whose self-imposed exile is just ending, and also Robbie Keane and Omar Gonzalez. Keane is now recovering from a calf injury picked up while away with the Republic of Ireland, while Gonzalez will be back with LA in Toronto after a stellar performance for the United States in a 0-0 draw in Mexico earlier this week. One player that will definitely be in the Los Angeles lineup is former Toronto FC defender Todd Dunivant. His departure from the Reds remains one of the most perplexing personnel decisions in the teams history, but his move to the Galaxy has been nothing but a success. Hes reached the MLS Cup final three out of his four seasons in LA, winning twice. Dunivant is now one of the veterans on the Los Angeles team and says the teams form in the early weeks of the season is proof that they are a sum of all their parts. "Although were seen as a team of stars and big names, there are a lot of guys that contribute," he said. "We took it on our shoulders to step our games up and fill in for those missing guys. The last game (a 1-0 win over Colorado) we didnt have Robbie Keane and Omar Gonzalez and guys stepped up and did a job. Thats what good teams are all about, and weve been able to do that so far this year." The Galaxy have also been able to rely on some of their youngsters stepping up. Academy products Jack McBean and Jose Villarreal have taken their chance well. "The youngsters have been great," explained Dunivant. "Theyre both Academy guys and came through the system. Those guys are fearless. Theyre doing well and being aggressive and sscoring goals. cheap nfl jerseys. " Of course its not just about the players. In Bruce Arena, the Galaxy are led by a man who has coached his country at the World Cup, the Olympics and won four MLS Cups. Its a resume that is unmatched in North American soccer. "Hes the most successful coach in US history," Dunivant said of the 61-year-old. "The biggest thing he has done for us is keeping stability. He has kept our core together and successful teams need that stability. He could have pushed the panic button real easy last year when we were in last place, but he stuck with us and was rewarded for that." Now the Galaxy are close to adding another big piece to their puzzle. After an extended off-season, a refreshed Donovan joined up with the team for their visit to meet President Obama at The White House on Tuesday. "It is honestly like he has never left," said Dunivant. "To have Landon back in the group is about as easy a transition as there is. He has been our Captain for a long time now and to have him back is a huge addition because of his leadership and everything that he brings to the table." "I think his return will be quicker than most people think. He has been working out, he is fit, and he is just one of those freaks of nature that can just do it naturally. Hes itching to get going already and were excited to have him back without a doubt." For Dunivant, Saturdays match will be a special one. He spent two years in Toronto as the franchise was in its early days and loved his time in the city. But this visit will also have a little extra spice, as he goes up against one of his former teammates. Dunivant was in the same team as Toronto head coach Ryan Nelsen during their college days at Stanford, and he had great admiration for the New Zealanders leadership skills even back then. "Ryan was special from day one. We came into Stanford together and played two years together." "In his senior season he was the best player in the country without a doubt. Hes a natural leader and an incredible guy. He has got the guys in Toronto playing exactly how he likes to play and they are made in his image. It will be a tough game without a doubt because we know they will be coming for us." Toronto FC against LA Galaxy is live on MLS on TSN on Saturday, March 30 at 2pm ET, 11 am PT on TSN ' ' '
