Nashville Predators 3 Winnipeg Jets 1 – It was the Predators first regular season visit to Winnipeg and, with the help of some bounces, the Predators made it two-for-two so far on a three game road trip. Nashville will play in Minnesota on Tuesday while the Jets close out their six-game home stand against Washington (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). The Jets and Preds then meet again Thursday in Nashville (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). There was no scoring in the first period despite the Jets outshooting Nashville 15-12. It was the first time this season the Jets outshot their opponent in the opening period. The Jets went on a power play early in the second, only to see Eric Nystrom score a short-handed goal for the Predators. Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien had a shot blocked by Nystrom on the play, creating a two-on-one for Nashville. It was the first shorthanded goal the Jets have allowed this season and the first Nashville has scored. The second period struggles continued for the Jets on Sunday night as Patric Hornqvist picked off an Ondrej Pavelec clearing attempt, fired the puck towards the net and had it go off the skates of Zach Bogosian and in, giving Nashville a 2-0 lead. Later in the period, and just seconds after the Jets killed off a penalty, Matt Cullen beat Pavelec up high to make it 3-0. The Jets have only scored three second period goals themselves all = season and were held without on Sunday. Evander Kane got the Jets on the board midway through the third period, netting his fifth of the season to make it 3-1 but thats as close as Winnipeg would get. Kane finished the game with 10 shots on goal, the second 10-shot game of his career. Unlike Friday there was no Jets comeback as Nashville goaltender Carter Hutton stopped 38-of-39 shots for his first NHL win. The Jets are now 4-5 on the season and 3-4 at home and Kane felt despite some bad bounces that the team needed a better effort. "You have to battle through, show some character," he said. Pavelec meanwhile had this to say after the game: "the way we play some nights. We cant be successful." As for Coach Claude Noel, he again cautioned about using the shots on goal to judge the game. "We got shots but we didnt create enough. We didnt battle to get the second shot," he said. "We didnt have enough A games from our group, at times we played just to play. You have to be more emotionally connected to the game." Byfuglien ended the night with seven shots on goal on a team high 27:18 of ice time. The Jets were without Jim Slater, Mark Stuart, Jacob Trouba and Chris Thorburn because of injuries, while Eric Tangradi was a healthy scratch for the second straight game. Devin Setoguchi, a healthy scratch Friday, was back in the lineup and assisted on the Kane goal. Adam Pardy, up from St. Johns, was very solid in 13:38 of ice time. Tuesday against Washington will be Hockey Fights Cancer Night. All Jets players will wear a special edition lavender Jets jersey during the pre-game warm up. Fans that purchased raffle tickets over the past number of home games will have a chance to win one of the jerseys. Tickets will be on sale at Tuesdays game. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Kenny Stills Saints Jersey . "Its huge," Casey said of Torontos matchup with the fifth-place Hawks, who sit 1.5 games behind the Raptors for third place in the Eastern Conference. "Its not like in the past where games dont matter. In the past we were building, getting guys experience. Rickey Jackson Saints Jersey .J. -- The New York Giants are not only back in the playoff hunt with a four-game winning streak, theyre calling the plays that get them those wins. http://www.thesaintsofficialshop.com/black-friday-kenny-stil ls-jersey/ . Justin Upton homered and scored the tiebreaking run on Chris Johnsons eighth-inning single, and the Atlanta Braves beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1 on Tuesday night to end their seven-game skid. Morten Andersen Jersey .m. Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Seattle Sounders FC hopes to rebound from a mid-week loss at D.C. United when it travels to Columbus for a Major League Soccer clash with the Crew on Saturday. Sam Mills Saints Jersey . The Oilers have the third selection in Friday nights first round, a year after taking Darnell Nurse seventh and two years removed from a streak of three consecutive No.HOUSTON -- Soony Saad scored late in the first half, and Dominic Dwyer added a penalty kick goal in the second to help 10-man Sporting Kansas City beat the Houston Dynamo 2-0 on Friday night. Kansas City snapped a five-game winless streak to improve to 6-5-4. "For them to be able to come in here and get a win being a man down and having a lot of changes, was huge," Kansas City coach Peter Vermes said. "From that perspective, its more for us than just three points going into the (World Cup) break." Houston (5-9-2) has lost four straight -- all shutouts -- and hasnt scored in 389 minutes. Houston had a few regulars, including starting goalkeeper Tally Hall, replaced in the starting lineup. Houston coach Dominic Kinnear took responsibility for the loss. "Its my fault for giving guys a chance," Kinnear said. "Im the guy who picks the team Im the guy who makes the subs. This game is my fault today, I take 100 per cent. I dont look back on years and say, Oh that was a tough stretch in 08. I dont know. Its not a good time right now." Saad scored in the 45th minute, taking a pass from Benny Feilhaber and sending a shot into the right net from just the left of the upper half-circle. "Even with us being down a man, I feel like we stayed mentally focused and picked our moments to go," Saad said. "On the one where I scored, that was just us stepping up as a team, capitalizing on a mistake and it was perfect right before half to get momentum going into the half." Dwyer struck in the 70th, firing his penalty kick low into the right net and freezing Houston goalkeeper Tyler Deric. Sporting was awarded the penalty kick after Houstons A.J. Cochran had a hand ball in the box off a corner kick. Kansas City played the final 69 minutes a man down after Toni Dovale was given a straight red card in the 21st minute for elbowing Houstons Alex Lopez in the face. The win was Kansas Citys first since May 10 in Monntreal.dddddddddddd "We were up in it today with the red card early in the game," Dwyer said. "It was a lot of running for us. We stayed in touch with the game and was able to get the three points. It was a good test of character (to be down a man). We had a lot of guys who normally dont start who came in today and had a fantastic performance from everyone on the field." Warren Creavalle had a chance to score for Houston in the 76th minute, but his shot from the right box was saved by a diving Eric Konberg. Houston had two more chances late in second-half stoppage time. Giles Barnes sent a shot from inside the upper goalkeepers box off the face of Kronberg. The rebound attempt by Will Bruin in the middle of the box was slowed by the traffic in front of the net and cleared out. "I think we need to look at everything from back to front," Barnes said. "Im sure thats exactly what we will do out on the training field. There will be some guys coming back, some people can get some extra fitness work in so that after the break we come back ready to go." Sporting Kansas City lost captain and midfielder Paulo Nagamura in the third minute after he and Cochran went up for a ball and Cochran headed Nagamura in the back of the head. Alex Martinez was substituted in for Nagamura, who was taken off the field on a stretcher and taken to the locker room where he was diagnosed with a concussion. He was not taken to a hospital. Houston lost starting defender David Horst in the ninth minute with a left leg injury after a corner kick. Horst hobbled to the sideline, and Eric Brunner came in for him. Feilhaber, who was tackled hard by Brunner on the first goal, left the game with a left shoulder injury at halftime. Both teams were down two players already due to the World Cup call-ups, with Houstons Brad David with the U.S. and Boniek Garcia with Honduras, and Kansas Citys Graham Zusi and Matt Besler with the U.S. ' ' '
