CHICAGO - The Atlanta Hawks are looking down at the rest of the Eastern Conference heading into the second half of the season. With their efficient offence and stingy defence, Kyle Korver and company could be on top for a while.Korver made a season-high seven 3-pointers on his way to 24 points, and the Hawks beat the Chicago Bulls 107-99 Saturday night for their 12th straight victory.I think were gaining confidence by the game, Korver said.Al Horford added 22 points and nine rebounds as the Hawks matched the second-longest win streak in franchise history. Paul Millsap scored 16, and Jeff Teague had 17 points and 11 assists. The Hawks (33-8) have won 26 of 28 since a 7-6 start, surging to the top of the East with a balanced offence and sound defence. They closed out the first half of the season with impressive road wins over Toronto and Chicago on consecutive nights.I think they enjoy sharing the ball. They enjoy playing with each other, Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said, and they know that theyll all reap the benefits of it if everybody plays unselfishly.Derrick Rose had 23 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds for Chicago (27-15), which has dropped five of seven. Pau Gasol had 22 points and 15 rebounds, and Jimmy Butler scored 15.There were lapses. It seemed like we were down and chasing them the entire game, Rose said. I dont know when we are going to learn, but we have to learn quickly.Atlanta and Chicago also played on Dec. 15, with the Hawks winning 93-86 at home. It looks as if the gap between the division leaders has only increased since the first meeting of the season.Korver had 12 points on 4-for-4 shooting from 3-point range as Atlanta led by as many as 14 on its way to a 48-39 advantage at the break. The Hawks jumped into passing lanes and used their active hands to disrupt Chicagos offence, with the Bulls committing seven turnovers in the first quarter after they totalled seven during Friday nights win at Boston. It was more of the same in the second half. Each time Chicago made a run, Atlanta responded.Korver had a four-point play that made it 80-69 with 11:09 to go. After Rose had a slick layup on the break that got Chicago within five, Horford buried a face-up jumper and Millsap made two foul shots to run the lead back out to 97-88 with 3:29 remaining. Were a confident group, Teague said. We just know if we play the right way and play great defence and be aggressive defensively that weve got a chance to be in any ballgame. Were just playing in a really good groove right now.The Bulls played without centre Joakim Noah, sidelined by a sprained right ankle for the second straight game. The reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year was scheduled for an MRI on Saturday, but coach Tom Thibodeau said before the game that he had not received the results.Chicago forward Mike Dunleavy missed his ninth consecutive game with a right ankle problem, and rookie Doug McDermott remains out with a right knee injury.___Travelling SHOWAtlanta extended its franchise-record road winning streak to 12 games. The Hawks are an NBA-best 16-5 away from home after beginning with four losses in their first five road games.Atlanta had dropped its last seven games in Chicago, counting the post-season. It was the Hawks first road win against the Bulls since a 103-95 playoff victory on May 2, 2011.SHOOTING RANGEKorver was 7 for 9 from 3-point range as the Hawks went 11 for 26 from beyond the arc. They have made at least 10 3s in eight consecutive games.TIP-INSHawks: G Shelvin Mack exited in the first half with a left calf strain. ... C Pero Antic got the night off. Budenholzer, an assistant to Gregg Popovich in San Antonio before he took over Atlanta in 2013, said he just wanted to give Antic a break.Bulls: Rose went 4 for 10 from 3-point range and is 15 for 27 from beyond the arc in the last three games. ... TORONTO -- The off-season proved to Mike OShea that even after 18 years in professional football, he still has plenty to learn. The six-foot-three, 228-pound OShea returned to the Toronto Argonauts as their special-teams co-ordinator Thursday after being interviewed by both the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats for their respective head-coaching positions. "It was a great experience and a great opportunity to get to know some people around the league," OShea said. "What Ive learned is Ive got a lot to learn ... Ive always said even as a player you never stop learning in football, theres always something else to learn. "This was just another opportunity to learn from people Ive never been around." The 41-year-old North Bay, Ont., native was bypassed for both jobs and ultimately decided to return to Toronto and become a part of new head coach Scott Milanovichs staff. "Being a head coach has never been on the top of my list," OShea said. "What happens is if you have a little bit of success and people need to fill a roster to do interviews to satisfy their knowledge of staff that are around then you get a couple of phone calls. "And when you get calls like that you certainly have to go explore those opportunities. But to say Ive always had that (being a head coach) on my list is untrue. Whats always been on the top of my list is winning a Grey Cup and if that means winning one as a head coach or special-teams co-ordinator ... thats what is important to me." OShea spent 12 of his 16 CFL seasons playing linebacker for Toronto -- the other four were with Hamilton. He was the leagues top rookie in 1993 before being named the top Canadian in 1999. His final season wass 2008 with Toronto, although he never formally retired as a player.dddddddddddd He returned to the Argos two years later, starting his coaching career as the clubs special-teams co-ordinator under then head coach Jim Barker. Barker stepped down as coach following the 2011 season to concentrate full-time on being the clubs GM. He hired Milanovich, a former Montreal Alouettes offensive co-ordinator, as his replacement on the sidelines. "Hes obviously a young guy with a lot of energy whos been around a winning organization," OShea said of his new boss. "Even though hes a young guy hes had some good coaching experience and gives us another opportunity to learn." OShea won three Grey Cups as a player with Toronto and finished his career as the second-leading tackler in CFL history with 1,151. Torontos special teams have blossomed under OShea, especially returner Chad Owens. Owens was the CFLs outstanding special-teams player in 2010 and a finalist for the award last year after becoming the first player in pro football history to surpass 3,000 all-purpose yards in a season. Still, OShea said he and the other special-teams personnel can be better. Toronto missed the playoffs last year with a 6-12 record but hopes to be a contender in 2012 as the club hosts the Grey Cup at Rogers Centre. The Argos also made a huge step towards that goal this off-season by acquiring quarterback Ricky Ray from the Edmonton Eskimos. "You have to make a run," OShea said. "Youre in front of your home fans, you have to make a serious run. "The fans expect it, the players and organization expect it ... youre always looking for that next little edge thats going to put you back into the big game" cheap nfl jerseys cheap soccer jerseys ' ' '
