The Montreal Alouettes have signed non-import kicker Brody McKnight, the teams first-round (eighth overall) selection in last years CFL draft, to a two-year contract. McKnight played four seasons with the University of Montana Grizzlies in the NCAA before landing at the New York Jets mini-camp this spring after signing as a free agent. The 22-year-old later attended the Arizona Cardinals rookie mini-camp in May on a tryout basis. The Vancouver, BC native successfully connected on 21 of his 28 field goal attempts during his final year at Montana, good for 75%, including one from 51 yards. "We welcome Brody to our organization today," said General Manager Jim Popp. "He obviously has some catching up to do, but we will get him up to speed and let him work on his skill set during practice. The 31-year-old centre will be in the lineup for the first time in the pre-season when the Canadiens visit the Senators in Ottawa on Friday night.
