ST. JOHNS, N.L. -- Eric ODell had a goal and two assists as the St. Johns IceCaps built a 3-0 lead to dump the Manchester Monarchs 5-2 on Friday in American Hockey League action. Jason Jaffray, John Albert, Kael Mouillierat, Blair Riley also scored for St. Johns (6-6-1). Nick Deslauriers and Scott Sabourin replied for Manchester (8-2-3). Jaffray opened the scoring when he tipped in a Julian Melchiori wrist shot through traffic at 1:35 of the first period. John Albert made it 2-0 with a power-play goal at 14:40 when he beat Martin Jones with a wrist shot from the left face-off dot. Riley added a third goal for St. Johns at 8:42 of the second period, connecting on a slapshot with an extra attacker out, as goalie Eddie Pasquale skated to the bench awaiting a Monarchs penalty call. Deslauriers put Manchester on the board 3:19 into the third, beating Pasquale with a low wrist shot on the power play. IceCaps forward Mouillierat scored an insurance marker at 9:47 in the third, and ODell closed the scoring for the home team with five minutes left. Sabourin scored a consolation goal for Manchester with 2:15 remaining. Pasquale made 28 saves for the IceCaps, while Jones turned away 25 for the Monarchs. The IceCaps went 1 for 5 on the power play. The Predators announced the trade Wednesday before heading to Vancouver for a four-game road swing. Del Zotto, 23, has 11 points in 42 games for the Rangers averaging 17 minutes, 44 seconds of ice time per game. The 6-foot, 195-pound Del Zotto was the 20th overall choice by the Rangers in the 2008 draft, and he has 121 career points in 292 career NHL games. But Del Zotto never seemed to fully fit since coach Alain Vigneault replaced the fired John Tortorella after last season. Del Zotto was a heealthy scratch from Vigneaults lineup for nine games, but was back in for the 10 games before Wednesdays deal.dddddddddddd Del Zotto, who can become a restricted free agent this summer, carries a $2.55 million salary cap charge this season. Klein was one of four right-handed shooting defencemen in Nashville and something the Rangers have wanted. Del Zotto is a lefty shooter. Adding Klein and removing Del Zotto will allow John Moore to move to the left side for the Rangers. Klein, 29, was the 37th choice overall in 2003 by Nashville and has played 403 games in nine NHL seasons. He has three points in 47 games this season and ranks 22nd in the NHL with 94 blocked shots. Klein also is under contract through 2017-18 after signing a five-year, $14.5 million deal in September 2012 giving him a $2.9 million salary cap hit each season.
