When the press release for the latest model of the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus landed in my inbox, my heartbeat increased just this little more than usual when running trainers are mentioned.
The reasons for the excitement were following: this is one of Mo Farah's favourite running shoes and he is the best 5000m and 10000m runner in the world (Olympic, World and European champion) and I was in the process of training for a 10k race (the excellent Vitality British 10k London run through the heart of London). I was intrigued to find out what they were like, the shoes that he uses on so many of his running sessions.
The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 33 is the longest franchise in the Nike history; it's in its 33rd Asics Gel Lyte 3 Mujer edition and has been around for over 30 years.
My first impression is that the shoe looks paired down and simple, elegant but almost old school. For someone who is used to running around with great big sofas strapped to my feet, this is a big change. Past Achilles heel problems and calf injuries have made me paranoid and ever since I have been relying on ultra cushioned shoes, super comfortable but at time perhaps a tad heavy. Don't get me wrong, the Pegasus has cushioning and support and it's definitely not a barefoot running shoe, it just doesn't look like you are running on hover boats. They look streamlined. So this is making me slightly nervous but I'm excited in equal measures - they are so light!
I finally got them Adidas Gazelle Femme on and they do feel super comfortable and fit around the foot like a glove. New zoom air pockets have been added Adidas Gazelle Dames in the forefoot of the midsole, adding to the existing zoom air units in the heel which according to the press release is making them more snappier and more responsive than previous models. I haven't tried the previous models so I can't compare them, but they do feel good and I can't wait to take them on the road.
Mo Farah logs around 125 training miles per week and while I don't run exactly that far (okay oaky, it doesn't even come close, not remotely) the shoes do feel great. They definitely do feel different to my other shoes and the lower heel does take a little bit of getting used to. They make for a very smooth run though, transitions from heel to front feel seamless and despite the fact that there is overall Adidas Superstar Dames Roze less material, I do feel cushioned and supported. The most interesting part is, that every single run I have done Nike Air Max 2017 Mujer so far was faster than my runs in previous weeks. Maybe it's the new shoe or just the excitement about a new trainer but I have definitely been feeling an extra spring in my step. While I think that I will still use more supported shoes for my half marathons, for me this is the perfect running shoe for anything below.
Do make sure that you get expert advice when buying running shoes, your body deals with a lot of impact when you pound those pavements and you want to make sure that you are wearing the best shoe for your body and your running style. Go to a running store where you can have your gait analyzed, that's the way your foot moves during your running stride, and find out if you are a neutral runner, under or Adidas ZX Flux Femme over-pronator. You will know what kind of shoe works best for you, to make your run more comfortable and prevent potential Nike Air Max Command Mujer injuries.
