ANAHEIM, Calif. cheap jerseys from china . -- The Angels and the Blue Jays both began the year expecting to be in a pennant race when August rolled around, not marking time through the final weeks of dismal seasons. Mark Trumbo and the Angels still arent giving up, and they won the years first meeting between two of the ALs biggest underachievers. Trumbo homered in the Angels four-run first inning, Garrett Richards allowed four hits over seven strong innings, and Los Angeles snapped its six-game losing streak with an 8-2 victory over Toronto on Thursday. J.B. Shuck drove in three runs for the Angels, who avoided their longest skid in more than three years by pounding Toronto starter Josh Johnson for 10 hits in the opener of a four-game series. Los Angeles (49-58) is 13 1/2 games out of first place in the AL West, and Toronto (50-58) is 15 games out in the East. "We look for wins, whether or not were in the thick of it," Trumbo said. "This is a team thats not going to stop working hard, no matter what were facing." The Angels stumbled home from an awful road trip with their waning playoff hopes further diminished by three straight losses in Texas on game-ending homers. Those three gut-punch defeats dropped Los Angeles 10 games below .500, and the trip also included Albert Pujols move to the disabled list with a foot injury. But with plenty of offensive support, Richards (3-4) was dominant in his first home start since April 20 and his second start since rejoining the Angels rotation, allowing two runs and striking out four. "This is a fighting club," Richards said. "Were definitely not giving up as a team. Were not panicking. We still have 50-something games to go, and were still going to show up at the yard every day ready to go." Colby Rasmus had two hits and scored a run for Toronto, which had won five of seven. Trumbo hit his 24th homer off Johnson (1-8), whose first career start against the Angels was a disaster. After allowing seven runs, Johnson was chased in the third inning with the bases loaded. His career-worst losing streak stretched to six starts. "Its frustration. Thats it," Johnson said. "Im out there trying to battle, trying to get through it and trying to stay positive. Youve got to find a way. Ill come back and watch some video and do whatever I can to get back. The worst part is doing this to my bullpen and my teammates. I felt like I made some pretty good pitches, but they were hitting the ball all over the place." Los Angeles led Toronto 3-0 after five batters when Howie Kendrick singled home Kole Calhoun and scored on Trumbos impressive shot to left on a hanging curve. Los Angeles batted around in the first inning, scored another run in the second on Josh Hamiltons sacrifice fly, and chased Johnson in the third with four singles, Shucks RBI flyout and a walk. "Hes one of our guys, man," Toronto manager John Gibbons said of Johnson. "He works as hard as anybody. Its a cruel business. Hes one of those guys you root for. Hes got that personality. Hes a good guy, and you feel for guys like that. Hes had a lot of success at this level, and he at rock-bottom right now." Toronto left fielder Melky Cabrera made things worse in the third when he picked up Erick Aybars single and lost control of the ball while attempting to throw it back to the cutoff man, allowing Trumbo to score the Angels sixth run. The ball comically popped into the air and landed behind Cabrera, who left the game in the fourth inning with what the club called irritation in his left knee. After the game, the Blue Jays placed Cabrera on the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-hander Neil Wagner. Richards faced little trouble until the fifth, when Adam Lind scored on Rasmus double and Calhouns error in right field. Rasmus then scored on a groundout by Maicer Izturis, the former Los Angeles utility infielder who got warm cheers from the Angel Stadium crowd in his return. NOTES: Pujols will be in a walking boot for three more weeks, but the $240 million first baseman said he wants to play again this season, no matter where the Angels might be in the standings. Manager Mike Scioscia was more circumspect, saying a decision is still several weeks away. ... Toronto activated RHP Sergio Santos from the 60-day disabled list and put RHP Dustin McGowan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique muscle. Santos, out since April 13 with an injured elbow, pitched two innings of relief, allowing one hit and one run. ... Angels LHP Jason Vargas will throw a three-inning simulated game in the bullpen Saturday, and if it goes well, hell likely make a minor-league rehab start before Los Angeles considers putting him back in the rotation. Vargas hasnt pitched since June 17 because of a blood clot in his left arm. nfl jerseys china . The Canadiens have recorded recent home wins over Winnipeg and Pittsburgh, but the club hasnt notched three victories in a row since a season-high four-game run from Oct. 26-Nov.CHICAGO -- John Henson cracked a smile as he headed down the court after his desperate turnaround splashed through the net. It was that kind of night for Milwaukee. Henson had 25 points, 14 rebounds and six blocked shots, and the Bucks beat the Chicago Bulls 78-74 on Tuesday in a matchup of slumping teams racked by injuries. "We just kept fighting," Henson said. "Man, we just kept fighting. As a young team, a scrappy team out here, thats what we got to do." Brandon Knight added 19 points and 10 boards for Milwaukee, which had dropped three of four. O.J. Mayo was just 2 for 12 from the field, but had seven assists and made a couple of big plays in the fourth quarter. Milwaukee only used nine players due to injuries, and Miroslav Raduljica logged all of 83 seconds. Chicago went with an eight-man rotation after Joakim Noah was sidelined by a bruised right thigh. "It doesnt matter," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "Everyone whos called upon is capable of doing their job. Eighteen turnovers hurt us. In the first half we had great ball movement with 14 assists. In the second half, we have to do better." Mike Dunleavy scored 18 of his 24 points in the second quarter, but the Bulls struggled on offence in the latter part of their fourth loss in five games. Carlos Boozer, the only starter from the season opener at Miami, had 21 points and 12 rebounds. "This is a winnable game," point guard Kirk Hinrich said. "Just couldnt play well enough to do it." The Bucks (5-16) trailed by seven at halftime, but cut the deficit to two heading to the fourth quarter, and then opened the final period with a 10-2 run. Hensons dunk over Tony Snell off a pass from Mayo made it 65-59 with 8:30 to go. Chicago (8-11) had a chance after Dunleavy made a 3 to trim Milwaukees lead to 73-72 with 1:59 remaining. But Henson responded with a long turnaround jumper as the shot clock expired, prompting the wide grin as he headed back to play defence. "I guess the basketball gods were with us tonight," Bucks coach Larry Drew said. "It was a hope and a prayer. It went in." Ekpe Udoh then blocked Snells 3-point attempt, annd the Bucks held on for their third road win of the season. cheap jerseys. Thibodeau said Noah aggravated the injury during the morning shootaround. He said he thinks the big man will be able to travel to New York for Wednesdays game against the Knicks. Luol Deng (left calf tightness) and Jimmy Butler (sprained right big toe) were ruled out earlier in the day. Derrick Rose is likely out for the season after right knee surgery. "Theyre missing guys. Were missing guys," Knight said. "But at the end of the day, thats how its going to be (in) NBA basketball. Youre never going to have all your guys, more than likely." It was the same problem on the other side for Milwaukee, which was without reserve guard Gary Neal due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Neal, who played seven minutes in the Bucks 90-82 loss to Brooklyn on Saturday, did not make the trip to Chicago. Centre Zaza Pachulia broke his right foot in last weeks 105-98 loss to Detroit, and the Bucks also are playing without injured starters Larry Sanders (thumb) and Caron Butler (knee). All those injuries took a toll on both teams, especially early on. The Bulls shot 25 per cent (6 for 24) in the first quarter, and the Bucks struggled to 33 per cent (7 for 21) in the second quarter. Dunleavy helped Chicago find its stride after the sloppy start. He had 10 points in a 12-2 spurt that gave Chicago a 40-31 lead with 2:44 left in the first half. Dunleavy was 7 for 7 from the field and 3 for 4 at the line in the second quarter. Snell had nine first-half points as the Bulls carried a 42-35 lead into the break. "The main thing is we have to play hard and compete and grind it out," Dunleavy said. "You can do that whether Joakim Noah or Luol Deng or Derrick Rose is in the lineup or not. Thats a mindset thing. Thats not a skill thing." NOTES: It was the first game of the season between the teams. They split four games last season, with the two wins for each side coming on the road. ... Bulls rookie Erik Murphy made a jumper in the first quarter for his first NBA basket. He played 10 minutes after playing just 15 minutes all season coming into the night. cheap jerseys ' ' '
