BARCELONA, Spain -- A first-half goal from Karim Benzema guided Real Madrid to a 1-0 win at Espanyol in the first leg of their Copa del Rey quarterfinal on Tuesday. Nine days after Madrid eked out a 1-0 victory at Espanyols Cornella-El Prat Stadium in the Spanish league, the visitors were again limited to the narrowest of winning margins -- despite dominating the first half, when Cristiano Ronaldo hit the post before Benzema headed home in the 25th minute. The second half was more evenly matched and Espanyols Sergio Garcia came close to an equalizer before Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas denied Jhon Cordoba in a one-on-one in the 83rd minute. "Espanyol played better in the second half and made us suffer, but that is normal," Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said. "The tie isnt decided." Casillas had a quiet first half, with Espanyol only mustering one clear scoring chance in the 18th when Luis "Pizzi" Afonso wasted Garcias pass by sailing his close-range shot over the crossbar. Early on, Ronaldo appeared eager as ever to add to his season tally of 31 goals in all competitions. He had four shots before halftime and hit the post with one of them in the 21st minute, but the new Ballon dOr winner faded in the second half. Benzema broke the deadlock when the France international headed a cross from Alvaro Arbeloa that was flicked on by Gareth Bale. Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla got a hand on the ball but couldnt keep it out. Espanyol pressed forward after halftime and Garcia twice shot wide, while Casilla stopped Arbeloa twice before denying Benzema on the break. The closing stages swung back in Espanyols favour and Casillas was forced to rush out to stop substitute Cordoba before weathering a final barrage of corner kicks. Ancelotti praised Casillas, who only starts in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, while Diego Lopez plays in the Spanish league. "I want to congratulate Casillas because he is playing well," Ancelotti said. "Iker is just as much a starter as Diego Lopez." In other first legs this week, Barcelona visits Levante on Wednesday, when third-tier Racing Santander plays at Real Sociedad. Defending champion Atletico Madrid hosts Athletic Bilbao on Thursday. The second legs will be played next week. Charles Haley . The Indians scored twice in the top of the ninth, getting the go-ahead run on a wild pitch by closer Matt Lindstrom. Axford (0-1) came in seeking his fifth save in as many chances. Doug Free Jersey . The Vikings announced Saturday they downgraded Peterson from doubtful on the original injury report to out against Detroit Sunday, when the Vikings and Lions will play the last game at the Metrodome. http://www.shoptheofficialcowboys.com/Elite-Jason-Witten-Cow boys-Jersey/ . Bryan Murray made an announcement after the GMs meetings - and as was reported by Pierre LeBrun a couple of weeks ago - that Jason Spezza wants a trade out of Ottawa. Whats the latest on that? Pierre LeBrun: Yes, he made it public. Michael Sam Jersey . Louis Blues return to top spot in the TSN. Travis Frederick Authentic Jersey . Cassano has been at the Policlinico facility since Saturday, when he was taken for tests after suffering what the club described as a brain problem on the team plane following the teams 3-2 victory over Roma. Each week, we will run down the top waiver wire pickups with a focus on the coming week and rest of the season. QUARTERBACKS Terrelle Pryor (vs Steelers)Last week: ByePryor is still only owned in less than half the leagues and while he didnt maintain his early season numbers, he should still find a home somewhere during the bye weeks. The Raiders are coming off a bye week and playing the improving (but still not that good) Pittsburgh Steelers. Pryor has built a successful connection with Denarius Moore of late and if they find each other for another touchdown pass on Sunday, Pryors numbers will certainly warrant a bye week fill-in start. Ryan Tannehill (at Patriots)Last week: 19/37, 196 yards, 3 TDs; 2 INTsTannehill looked very shaky against the Bills on Sunday but his day was saved from a fantasy perspective by his three passing touchdowns. The Dolphins running game just isnt very good though so Tannehill will continue to be relied upon to make plays through the air and its not like he doesnt have weapons in the passing game. With so many injuries at the QB position and teams on byes, you could do worse than Tannehill as a plug and play. Mike Glennon (vs Panthers)Last week: 26/44, 256 yards, 2 TDsWith Doug Martin gone for the foreseeable future and likely the season, Glennon might be forced to air it out more. Glennon has shown some improvement over his three starts and has thrown for at least 250 yards and two touchdowns in each of the last two weeks. Hes got a tough matchup against the Panthers this week, but if youre desperate at the QB position, Glennon should be on your radar. Geno Smith (at Bengals)Last week: 17/33, 233 yards, 1 TDs, 1 INT; 32 rush yards, 1 rushing TDIts been someting of a roller coaster ride for the Jets rookie QB this season. Hes mixed in some great fantasy games (three 20-point games) with some real stinkers (two sub-10-point games). If youre looking for consistency, look elsewhere, but if you want a bye week pick up or injury replacement with the potential for a big game you should consider Smith. Others: Josh McCown (Bye), Case Keenum (Bye) RUNNING BACKS Mike James (vs Panthers) Last week: 11 carries, 17 yards, 1 TDDoug Martin is likely out for the season with a torn labrum and that means James is going to be a very popular waiver pickup this week. The Bucs offence hasnt exactly set the NFL on fire this season but any back that is likely to get more than 15 carries has to be owned. Dont expect James to be your saviour - hes not nearly as good a back as Doug Martin, but he can slide in as a decent RB2/FLEX option for the remainder of the season. Roy Helu Jr. (at Green Bay)Last week: 11 carries, 41 yards, 3 TDs; 1 catch, 5 yardsWhen the Redskins go to the hurry-up, Helu becomes their every-down back. They went there great success against the Bears on Sunday and Helu rewarded them with three touchdowns. He wont score three times every week, but given the effectiveness of their hurry-up set, dont be surprised if Helus workload increases in the coming weeks. Alfred Morris is still the clear No.1, but Helu should continue to see around a dozen touches per week and be on the field during all passing downs. He is a high-end FLEX option with even more value in PPR formats. Joseph Randle (at Green Bay)Last week: 199 carries, 65 yards; 3 catches, 28 yardsRandle doesnt bring a whole lot of flash to the Cowboys backfield but he is their starting, early-down back.dddddddddddd Any running back that is getting 20 touches needs to be rostered based on volume alone. So long as DeMarco Murray is sidelined, Randle should be owned. Chris Ivory (at Bengals)Last week: 34 carries, 104 yards; 1 catch, -2 yardsWhere did that come from? Chris Ivory dominated the workload in the Jets backfield on Sunday out-touchding Bilal Powell 34-3 in a win over the Patriots. Its unlikely that the split continues to skew so heavily towards Ivory, but it can likely be taken as an indication that Ivory will continue to see a fair number of looks going forward. He has fantasy relevance again. Others: Donald Brown (Bye), Mike Tolbert (at Bucs) WIDE RECEIVERS Harry Douglas (at Cardinals)Last week: 7 catches, 149 yards, 1 TDHarry Douglas needs to be owned. Julio Jones is done, Roddy White is having a hard time staying healthy and Tony Gonzalez (with the exception of Week 6) just hasnt dominated. Matt Ryan has to throw the ball and Douglas will be a big beneficiary. He looked good as the Falcons No.1 wideout on Sunday grabbing all seven of his targets for 149 yards including a 37-yard touchdown. He is worth a pickup in pretty much any format. Jarrett Boykin (at Vikings)Last week: 8 catches, 103 yards, 1 TDWith Randall Cobb and James Jones both sitting out last week with knee injuries, Boykin stepped up and had a career night. He hauled in eight catches on 10 targets including an athletic 39-yard reception and a nice 20-yard touchdown. The Packers receiving corps also took another significant hit against the Browns with Jermichael Finley going down, so, even if Jones is able to return in Week 8, Boykin figures to maintain a sizeable workload. With Aaron Rodgers at quarterback that means he is worth owning. Darrius Heyward-Bey (Bye)Last Week: 4 catches, 44 yards, 1 TDWith Reggie Wayne out for the season with a torn ACL, Heyward-Bey will be thrust into a bigger role in the Colts passing game. T.Y. Hilton becomes the clear No. 1 receiver but guys like DHB and Coby Fleener should see a pretty sizeable uptick in usage in the passing game. He had played a significant role in the Colts win over the Broncos in Week 6 and caught his first touchdown of the season. He is on the WR3 radar. Others: Jeremy Kerley (at Bengals), Kendall Wright (Bye), Kris Durham (vs. Cowboys) TIGHT ENDS Jordan Reed (at Broncos)Last week: 9 catches, 134 yards, 1 TDWe said pick Reed up in this space last week. If you listened it paid off big. If you didnt, do it now. The rookie is miles ahead of Fred Davis, who was a healthy scratch on Sunday, in the Redskins tight end pecking order now. He is a solid TE1 option for the rest of the season. Heath Miller (at Raiders)Last week: 2 catches, 17 yards, 1 TDDont worry too much about the fact that Miller only caught two passes last week. He is Ben Roethlisbergers security blanket and will maintain a significant role in the Steelers going forward. Expect more targets and catches against Oakland this week. Others: Tyler Eifert (vs Jets), Delanie Walker (Bye), Coby Fleener (Bye) ' ' '
