SAN JOSE, Calif. - After an early season hangover, the Vancouver Canucks are once again playing like the team that dominated the NHL for much of last season. Henrik Sedin and Andrew Alberts scored goals less than a minute apart in the second period and Cory Schneider made 43 saves to lead the Canucks to their season-best fourth straight win, 3-2 over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. With three road wins in four days, the Canucks have broken out of the funk they had been in since losing the Stanley Cup final in seven games to Boston. "We were kind of waiting for this to happen," forward Daniel Sedin said. "We have a good team. We know if we play the right way, how good we can be. It was a matter of time until we turned the corner and we have now." Manny Malhotra also scored for the Canucks, who picked up where they left off in beating the Sharks in five games in the Western Conference final last spring. Andrew Murray and Patrick Marleau scored, and Antti Niemi made 24 saves for the Sharks, who had won four straight and six of seven. "Its probably the best game weve played in the last five and its the one we happened to lose," coach Todd McLellan said. "There are some things that showed up in tonights game that weve been working on the last couple days." Vancouver has won four straight games for the first time since taking the last two against San Jose in May and the first two in the Stanley Cup final. The Canucks ended up losing that series to the Bruins in seven games and started this season slowly. That all changed during this recent run with Schneider in goal instead of Roberto Luongo. Schneider got the chance when Luongo sustained an upper-body injury and has stayed in goal because of his strong play, allowing three goals in the four-game streak that has the Canucks back on track. "You could see signs of it earlier, but to go on a tough trip like this, its huge for our confidence and the way we want to play our game," Schneider said. "Sometimes the road will do that to you, It will make you simplify your game and make things easier on you." Vancouver took control with the two goals midway through the second period. The first came with the man advantage after Sharks captain Joe Thornton slashed Alexandre Burrows with 5 seconds left in a San Jose power play. Vancouvers top-ranked power-play unit struck quickly, just like it did in scoring nine power-play goals in the five-game series last May. Niemi gave up a long rebound on a shot from Dan Hamhuis and Henrik Sedin took the puck in the faceoff circle and sneaked a shot inside the post to give the Canucks a 2-1 lead. Just 50 seconds later, Alberts got his first goal of the season when his wrist shot from the point beat Niemi. The Canucks then killed off a couple of power plays and got a stellar effort from Schneider the rest of the way to follow up a 5-0 win in Phoenix on Friday night with another road victory against a playoff team. The Sharks made it interesting when Marleau scored with 1:15 remaining and Niemi on the bench, but San Jose couldnt get the equalizer. "We played well, we just didnt capitalized on some of the grade A chances we had," Thornton said. "I thought we deserved a better fate." The teams traded goals in a first period that included some lingering tension. San Joses Brad Winchester and Vancouvers Aaron Volpatti squared off just over two minutes into the game in a lengthy continuation of a fight that started in the pre-season. Winchester landed the biggest blow with his right hand but both players got in some good shots. "Obviously their fans dont really like us, they dont really like us, we dont really like them," Schneider said. "It always feels like a playoff game, whether its November or March or June. So its a fun team to play against." The Canucks then once again capitalized on a fortuitous bounce, although this one was much less significant than the one that led to Kevin Bieksas double-overtime goal that eliminated the Sharks from last seasons playoffs. Malhotra sent in what appeared to be a harmless centring pass from the corner with no teammates in front of the net. The puck bounced off Douglas Murrays skate and went past Niemi for the first goal. The Sharks tied it late in the period when Andrew Murray got his first goal for San Jose. Notes: Vancouver won for the first time in five tries on the back end of back-to-back games. ... Canucks D Alexander Edler left in the second period with an upper-body injury after being hit by Jamie McGinn. ... The Sharks recalled F Frazer McLaren from Worcester of the AHL where he had been on a conditioning assignment. Daryl Smith Black Jersey . When you think teams you imagine a group of people who all shop at the same jersey store and move together in a large pack with a common goal, which is usually scoring goals. But at these Olympic Games the idea of becoming a team in figure skating makes perfect sense because of a new event called, shockingly, the Team Event. Darian Stewart Jersey . 2 Ohio State to a 64-35 drubbing of Texas-Pan American on Saturday. Buckeyes sophomore forward Jared Sullinger missed the game with back spasms, but that didnt stop Ohio State (8-0), as Deshaun Thomas dropped 11 points to go with five rebounds, while Scott Shannon and Jordan Sibert contributed seven points apiece. http://www.authenticravensofficial.com/authentic-c-j-mosley- kids-jersey.html . "I just want to help, just want to have fun, just want to play," Yakupov told reporters on Tuesday. The first overall pick from 2012 added that head coach Dallas Eakins doesnt trust him and something needs to be done. Pernell McPhee Black Jersey . Harrison combined with four relievers on a five-hitter to get his first victory since September 2012, in his first home start since April 2013, and the Rangers won 5-0 Thursday night after being overwhelmed by the Rockies the previous three games. Lorenzo Taliaferro Black Jersey . - The Colorado Rapids say theyve received a first-round 2015 MLS SuperDraft pick, allocation money and a contract buyout from FC Dallas as compensation for coach Oscar Parejas leaving to take the same job with his former club.DALLAS -- Alex Chiasson broke a third-period tie with his first goal in 13 games, and Lindy Ruff earned his 600th NHL coaching victory with a 3-2 win over his former team, the Buffalo Sabres, on Monday night. Jamie Benns slap shot from the blue line deflected off Chiasson and past goalie Jhonas Enroth for a power-play goal at 10:25 of the third. The Stars opened a two-point lead over their closest pursuers for eighth place in the Western Conference. Ruff posted his first 571 wins with the Sabres before joining the Stars. Defencemen Jordie Benn and Alex Goligoski both scored their third goal of the season for the Stars, who overcame a 1-0 deficit. Benn had been scoreless for 11 games, and Goligoski had gone 48 without a goal. Tyler Ennis scored twice for Buffalo, with Matt Moulson assisting on both goals. The second got the Sabres even at 3:23 of the third. Dallas (29-22-10) has 68 points. Winnipeg and Vancouver each have 66. Enroth made 36 saves, and Dallas Kari Lehtonen had 21. Dallas dominated the first period everywhere but on the scoreboard as the Sabres took a 1-0 lead. The Stars recorded 14 of the first 17 shots, but failed to score on three power plays despite putting seven shots on goal. Dallas nearly gave up a short-handed goal on the third advantage, but Matt DAgostinis shot hit the crossbar. The Sabres scored on their next shot. Drew Stafford skated in on the left side, and when Dallas Trevor Daley slid on the ice to try to blockk a shot, Stafford passed the puck across to Ennis, who scored at 17:17.dddddddddddd Dallas outshot the Sabres 16-5 in the period, which ended with Enroth stopping Chiassons close-range backhand. Chiasson put a team-high four shots on goal in the first, including some of the Stars best chances. Enroth had stopped Chiassons slap shot on Dallas first power play, as well as two Cody Eakin slap shots. The Stars tied it 1:30 into the second period when Benn sent a slap shot from the left point past Enroth, with help from a screen by his brother Jamie. Six seconds before the period ended, Gologoski scored. Ryan Garbutt deflected Trevor Daleys slap shot off the post. Shawn Horcoff gathered in the rebound and sent a backhanded pass across the goalmouth to Goligoski, who scored into the left side of the net. The Stars had a 12-9 advantage in shots, for a two-period total of 28-14. Buffalo tied it when Moulsons shot went over the net but bounced back off the glass to Ennis, who tucked the puck into the lower right corner. The loss ended a season-best three-game winning streak for Buffalo (18-35-8). NOTES: The Stars were 1 for 26 on power plays in their previous seven games. . Eakin left the game with 3 minutes remaining because of an undisclosed injury. . Jamie Benn has 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in his last 11 games. . Enroth has stopped 101 of 110 shots in his last three games. . In his last four games against Dallas, Moulson has six goals, two assists. ' ' '
