TORONTO -- Add another name to Torontos growing list of goaltending prospects. Mark Owuya made 20 saves for the shutout and Greg Scott had a four-point game to lead the Toronto Marlies to a 4-0 victory over the Houston Aeros in American Hockey League action Saturday. Scott had two goals and two assists, while Will Acton and Marcel Mueller scored the other goals for Toronto (13-6-4). Darcy Kuemper made just his second appearance this season for Houston (13-4-6), stopping 33 shots. Owuyas record is 5-2-1 after being called up from the ECHLs Reading Royals and earning his first shutout for the Marlies. "The guys played a really good game," Owuya said. "This is probably our best defensive game so far, at least since Ive been up here. Its easy for me when the team plays like that in front. "Weve been playing well. But every guy in here wants even more. We want to be No. 1 in the division, No. 1 in the conference and No. 1 in the league overall." Owuya is the latest in a long line of goaltending prospects in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization with James Reimer, Jonas Gustavsson, Ben Scrivens and Jussi Rynnas. In fact, Torontos depth in net played into Owuya signing as free agent in April after playing with Djurgarden of the Swedish Elite League in 2010-11. "Thats why I signed here," Owuya said. "I saw so many good goalies here. I couldve signed with teams that had less goalie depth, but I felt that (goaltending coach) Francois Allaire was the guy to help me reach a higher level." Owuya, whose mother is Russian and father is Ghanaian, grew up in Sweden. In 32 games with Djurgarden last season he posted a 2.18 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. He signed with Toronto in the off-season with one clear objective. "Im going to play in the NHL," he said. "Thats the only place for me, otherwise I would have stayed home in Sweden. "Theres no point in getting over here if Im not going to play in the NHL. Thats what its all about." Owuya came into Saturdays game with a 1.84 GAA and a .934 save percentage, good for second and fourth in the AHL. But despite his stellar stats, he still feels his game isnt quite where it needs to be. "Ive been playing all right, but I feel like there are a lot more levels to my game," he said. "Ive been playing OK, but I still feel like I can get a few more saves and a few more wins every day. Thats the only way Im going to improve and keep the numbers down." Toronto dominated the first period, outshooting Houston 14-4 and taking a 2-0 lead into the intermission on goals by Acton and Scott. Kadri assists on Scotts goal, moving him into a tie with Mike Zigomanis for the Marlies scoring lead with 20 points. Kadri is continuing his hot streak from November when he was named the AHLs Player of the Month after recording 17 points in 12 games. "Im going to keep playing to my potential and to whats going to get me into the NHL," he said. "Ill keep playing my game and with the encouragement of everyone else, it makes it that much easier. "Without a doubt, I know I can play in the NHL. Im fully confident that when I get the call Ill be able to step in and be the impact player they want me to be." It was more of the same in the second period with Toronto scoring another pair of goals. Mueller made it 3-0 less than four minutes into the second period, and Scott got his second of the game when he deflected Korbinian Holzers point shot past Kuemper. There was no scoring in the third period. Marlies head coach Dallas Eakins has been impressed with Owuyas play, but with Scrivens being sent back down to the Marlies it was unclear whether Owuya would stick with the club or be sent back down to Reading. "Hes got lots of wins and great numbers," Eakins said. "Hes developing nicely. Weve got a nice problem on our hands. "Ben is starting (Sunday), but I havent decided whos backing him up." The Marlies continued their strong play at Ricoh Coliseum with the victory and have now earned at least a point in every home game this season with a 7-0-2 record. CHICAGO -- The White Sox were asleep, and headed to another perplexing home loss. The crowd at U.S. Cellular Field was restless, and John Danks was struggling to keep Chicago in the game. Then Brent Morel came to the plate. Morel hit a tying three-run homer with two out in the fifth inning and the White Sox went on to a sorely needed 4-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night. "He need and we need that one just to wake up," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "After that home run, I think we obviously come alive a little bit." Gordon Beckham sparked the winning rally with a leadoff walk in the eighth. Beckham made it all the way to third on pinch-hitter Dallas McPhersons one-out single and scored when Cody Eppley (1-1) bounced his first pitch to Alexei Ramirez. McPherson was promoted when Mark Teahen went on the disabled list earlier in the day. The bouncer up the middle was his first hit since Sept. 10, 2008, for Florida at Philadelphia. "It was nice to get that one out of the way," a grinning McPherson said. Jesse Crain (1-1) pitched 1 2-3 scoreless innings to get the win and Sergio Santos worked a perfect ninth for his sixth save in six chances. The White Sox (18-25) were coming off a listless 4-0 loss to Colby Lewis and the Rangers on Monday night and had dropped 10 of their past 11 games at U.S. Cellular Field. They were in big trouble again before Morel drove a 1-2 pitch from Matt Harrison over the wall in left-centre for his first homer of the season. "Luckily, I got a fastball over the plate. Mistake pitch, so fortunate enough to get that one," Morel said. Endy Chavez had two hits and reached four times for Texas, which has dropped eight of its past 11 road games. Michael Young singled in the eighth to extend his road hitting streak to a career-best 17 games. "Tonight we just didnt get the big knock," Young said. "Its all right, weve been doing it the last week or so. Well be all right." The Rangers, missing injured sluggers Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz, employed a patient approach as Danks struggled to find the strike zoone.dddddddddddd They walked five times in the first four innings, with each playing a key role in their three runs. Chavez walked and scored on Ian Kinslers double play grounder in the first. Mike Napoli, Yorvit Torrealba and Craig Gentry walked with two out in the second, and shortstop Ramirez misplayed Chavezs bouncer for a run-scoring error. David Murphy started the fourth with a walk and eventually came around to score on Torrealbas sacrifice fly. Texas entered the game with 124 walks, 11th in the American League. Danks eventually settled down, working out of a jam in the fifth and retiring seven of his last nine batters. The left-hander matched a career high with six walks in all, but allowed just two earned runs and four hits over 6 1-3 innings. "They didnt hit me very much because there wasnt many pitches to hit," Danks said. "I dont have a reason or I dont know why the first couple innings went the way they did. ... Like I said, Im glad I was able to stay out of the way and let B-Mo and these guys do what they did." Danks, who had dropped his previous five starts, remains winless in six decisions one year after he set a career high with 15 victories. Harrison pitched seven effective innings, allowing three hits. He struck out six and walked four. "Its definitely frustrating," Harrison said. "I felt good the whole game. The fact of the matter is I walked too many people tonight. Even though I made the mistake to Morel, if I make that mistake without the walks, 3-1 ballgame. That was the whole key to the game." NOTES: Hamilton (broken bone in upper right arm) took early batting practice, then returned to Texas to be evaluated by team physician Dr. Keith Meister. If Meister clears him, the AL MVP will play two rehab games at double-A Frisco starting Wednesday, then three with triple-A Round Rock. ... McPherson has been hampered by back problems for much of his career. ... Chicago RHPs Gavin Floyd and Phil Humber will switch spots in the rotation this week. Floyd will start Thursdays game against Cleveland, while Humber is slated to go on Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
