There was no stopping the Acadie-Bathurst Titan once they got rolling on Thursday night. Robert Davis first goal of the season sparked a six-goal tear as Acadie-Bathurst downed the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 6-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. Davis scored two minutes 54 seconds into the second period for the Titan (29-28-5), who then got five more goals from Mario Kurali, Brent Turnbull, Zach OBrien, Sebastien Trudeau and Ludovic Kabambi. All six goals came in the middle period. Trudeau and Kabambi struck just nine seconds apart to give Acadie-Bathurst a 6-2 lead. Raphael Corriveau and Jonathan Brunelle scored in the first to give Cape Breton (21-27-3) a 2-0 lead. William Carriers goal 7:17 into the third was all the Screaming Eagles could muster against the Titans barrage. Robert Steeves made 16 saves to earn the win for Acadie-Bathurst, while Philippe Trudeau stopped 39 shots for Cape Breton. Neither team could score on their one power play. The Screaming Eagles have now lost five in a row and are 16th in the overall QMJHL standings, well out of the playoffs. Byrd, briefly paralyzed 20 years ago in a game against Kansas City, became the fifth former Jets player to receive the honour Sunday -- joining Joe Namath, Don Maynard, Joe Klecko and Curtis Martin. "What an amazing honour," Byrd told the fans, nearly all of them standing. "Thank you so much." Before the game, Byrd was introduced as the final member of New Yorks defence, walking out of the tunnel as his name was announced and greeted by the entire team in the end zone. A fired-up Byrd could be seen on the stadium video board addressing the players who were huddled around him. He stood on the sideline during the national anthem and walked arm-in-arm with centre Nick Mangold to midfield as the honorary captain for the coin toss. Mersereau was among the former teammates to join Byrd at halftime, as well as Freeman McNeil, Bill Pickel and Marty Lyons. Mersereau introduced Byrd to the crowd, saying the most touching moment of his life came when he visited Byrd in the hospital and his teammate -- unable to walk -- told him "Angie and I have been worried about you." With his wife and their four children watching from a few feet away, Byrd -- wearing a green No. 90 jersey -- told the fans about how much his teammates meant to him and how they and his family have helped him recover. He still walks gingerly and recently said he still has some frustrating days, but is getting better every day. "I learned to be a man in Oklahoma," Byrd said, "and I grew to be a man in New York." cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
