WASHINGTON -- Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg will be on an innings limit next season as he continues his comeback from reconstructive surgery on his pitching elbow. "Ive already calculated it, semi-calculated it, in my mind with our medical staff and our pitching people," general manager Mike Rizzo said Sunday. "Weve already discussed it." Rizzo didnt say what Strasburgs limit will be. "Were still at the beginning of that process. We want to find out how he feels at the end of the season and where hes at. Well calculate it and see whats a comfortable amount for him," Rizzo said. Strasburg had his ligament-replacement operation in September 2010, then returned to the majors this September. He is 0-1 with a 2.00 earned-run average, zero walks and 14 strikeouts in 18 innings heading into the fifth start of his comeback Wednesday at the Florida Marlins on the last day of the regular season. Nationals righty Jordan Zimmermann, who had the same surgery as Strasburg in August 2009, was shut down this season after reaching his innings limit. He threw 161 1-3 innings, making his last start on Aug. 28. With Strasburg and Zimmermann set for next years rotation, and the lineup taking shape, Rizzo looked ahead to the off-season by declaring: "I think were an outfield bat away and a starting pitcher away from really being a contender in the division." Entering Sundays home finale against the Atlanta Braves, the Nationals were in third place in the NL East. Washington never has finished that high since moving from Montreal before the 2005 season. "With the personnel that we have, I think youre seeing a very young team kind of maturing at the same time and it looks good for the future," Rizzo said. He addressed a variety of other topics: -- Rizzo wont reveal it, but he has a timetable in mind for having a permanent manager in place. Davey Johnson replaced Jim Riggleman on an interim basis in July. "We certainly have a plan that wed like to put in place so we can get on with the off-season," Rizzo said. Johnson is under contract for next year and Rizzo said he will work for the Nationals even if hes not brought back as the manager -- which appears to be a strong possibility. "Theres a long process its got to go through," Johnson said, "and Im very comfortable with that." -- The Nationals have started contract talks with right-hander Chien-Ming Wang, who went 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA in 11 starts coming back from shoulder surgery. "He wants to be here, we want to have him and so I think theres a lot of mutual interest," Rizzo said. -- Washington could use pitching depth to make trades. "Our pitching depth is the best Ive seen since Ive been around here, since the Lerners acquired the team (in 2006). We certainly would discuss trades to fill some of our needs, if the trade makes sense," Rizzo said. Letroy Guion Jerseys . Left guard Clint Boling tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a 17-10 victory in San Diego on Sunday. The Bengals put him on injured reserve Tuesday. T.J. Lang . An excellent start from Drew Hutchison and the return of Jose Bautista helped provide a little breathing room in the divisional race while ending a three-game losing skid at the same time. http://www.officialpackersjerseysforsale.com/authentic-nate- palmer-pink-jersey/ . Louis Cardinals have agreed on a four-year contract, giving the All-Star a fresh start after his Biogenesis drug suspension last summer. Dave Robinson . Entering the day in second place behind overnight leader Vincenzo Nibali, the 41-year-old Horner pulled away from the Giro dItalia champion over the final meters of the uphill ascent to turn a three-second deficit into a three-second lead with just two days to go. David Bakhtiari Jerseys . CSN New England reports that the team is interested in Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, whom they reportedly tried to acquire last off-season.AMES, Iowa -- Scott Christopherson had 23 points in his final home game and Iowa State rallied to beat No. 9 Baylor 80-72 Saturday night for its second win over a top-10 opponent this season. Melvin Ejim added 15 points for the Cyclones (22-9, 12-6 Big 12), who also secured the No. 3 seed for next weeks conference tournament. Baylor led by as much as nine late in the second half, but the Bears went nearly 5 minutes without a point down the stretch. Baylor pulled to 66-64, but Tyrus McGee drilled a 3 with 1:24 left and the Bears followed with a crushing offensive foul. Pierre Jackson had a career night with 35 points for the Bears (25-6, 12-6), who fell to the fourth seed for the Big 12 tournament. Jacksons typically the one dishing the ball, ranking third in the Big 12 in assists. Against Iowa State, Jackson simply kept it for himself. That strategy worked for a while, but when Jacksons stroke went cold the Bears didnt have anyone else to pick him up. Jackson had 18 points by halftime, and matched his previous career high of 25 with 15:31 left on a confident 18-footer that put the Bears ahead 51-43. The Cyclones wouldnt go away, as Chris Babbs heads-up bucket off an errant White pass brought Iowa State within 53-52, but Jackson quickly answered with his fourth 3 of the night. Christopherson gave the Cyclones their first lead of the second half, following a floater with a deep 3 to make it 62-60 with 7:02 left. Royce White had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Cyclones, who scored 50 points in the second half and improved to 10-0 against Baylor at home. PPerry Jones III had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Bears, who shot just 6 of 24 from 3-point range.dddddddddddd The one question thats dogged Baylor all season is how its performed against the leagues best teams. Four of the Bears five losses came against Big 12 heavyweights Kansas and Missouri, and only the one-point loss to the Tigers in Waco last month was even close. Perhaps their best win in league play came against the Cyclones three weeks ago, when Baylor ran away with a 79-64 win. The Bears took it to the Cyclones early, using their superior size and length to control the boards and keep Iowa State -- one of the better teams in the country from the perimeter -- from getting comfortable looks. But the Cyclones managed to tie the game 27-all late in the first half, despite hitting just two of their first 13 tries from 3-point range. Baylor missed their first seven 3-point attempts, but Jackson broke that streak in putting the Bears ahead 30-27. Jackson buried another one, this time after McGee blew a dunk, and Baylor opened up a 37-28 lead. The Bears had control in the second half, but they let Iowa State hang around just long enough to catch up -- then overtake them. Baylor finished just 1-5 against the top three seeds in the Big 12 tournament: Kansas, Missouri and Iowa State. Baylor joined the league champion Jayhawks as top-10 teams to lose at Hilton Coliseum this season. The Cyclones finished 8-1 at home in the Big 12 this season and, by beating the Bears, appear to have their first NCAA tournament bid in seven years locked up. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
