JOHNS CREEK, Ga. -- Japans Ryo Ishikawa nearly shot his age at the PGA Championship -- and that wasnt a good thing for the 19-year-old sensation. Ishikawa put six shots in the water on Thursday to finish with the worst score of his professional career, a 15-over 85 in the first round at Atlanta Athletic Club. It got so bad at one point that Ishikawa said he just "stopped counting." He was the only one. At the end of his day, it was Ishikawas worst round in three PGA Championship appearances and his highest score of the year, surpassing the 83 he posted at the Japan Golf Tour Championship. "I think this is probably the first time I hit so many in the water," Ishikawa said through an interpreter. Ishikawas problems began early on the 11th, his second hole of the day, when he hit into the water and made double bogey. He took a 6 on the 15th, the 260-yard par-3 fronted by water, then had back to back double bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes. Ishikawa went bogey, double bogey, double bogey on the second, third and fourth holes and it looked like he might have a chance at bettering the highest first-round PGA Championship score ever of 94 shot by Gary Campbell at Pebble Beach in 1977. But Ishikawa regained the form that has made him a nine-time winner on the Japan Golf Tour with pars on the final five holes. "The last five holes I felt my swing came back," Ishikawa said. "For tomorrow, Id like to get that swing and have a good 18 holes." Ishikawa has struggled this season, entering the years final major without a victory after winning three times a year ago as an 18-year-old. He missed the cut at the British Open after a second-round 80 last month, but rebounded to tie for fourth a week ago at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Ishikawa said his practice rounds went well and he anticipated a good showing. Instead, he said he grew stiffer and less confident with each mistake. He didnt think nerves came into play. "It was my technique that was the culprit," he said. Nicknamed the "Bashful Prince," Ishikawa is the rising star of Japanese golf. That has taken a toll at times. He played 20 tournaments in 22 weeks largely because his tour and his sponsors want Ishikawa out in front of the public. Ishikawa won his first Japan Tour event as a 15-year-old amateur, then took the tours money title at 17. He became the first player to shoot 58 on a major tour in winning The Crowns title last year. Ishikawa has also displayed a generous heart, pledging all his 2011 tour earnings, currently at US$490,964, plus $1,200 for each birdie he makes during the year to the Japan earthquake relief efforts. He said hes not pressured to do well by his donation because its cumulative and not depending on any one round. Ishikawa said hes been tweaking his swing recently and understands hell have days like this. Playing partner Adam Scott, winner of the Bridgestone last week, said it was difficult watching so talented a golfer as Ishikawa struggle. "When things start going the wrong way on a course like this, you cant hide," Scott said. "It was a tough day for him because Im sure he wouldve been feeling good after last week." Ishikawa hopes to feel that way again, maybe as soon as Friday. The goal for the second round? "Birdies on every hole, all 18," he said. wholesale nfl jerseys . With a lengthy suspension looming, the New York Yankees star hit a two-run homer to left in the third inning of a 6-2 win over the Reading Fightin Phils. http://www.wholesalemlbcheapjerseys.com/ . But it got the job done, and thats the only thing that mattered to Mike Dunleavy and the Chicago Bulls. Cheap Russia Soccer Jerseys . Robin van Persie put United ahead in the 26th minute, pouncing on a rebound after Wayne Rooney had a shot blocked. But Southampton, one of the surprises of the league this season, troubled United throughout and claimed a deserved point when Lovren bundled in a corner from James Ward-Prowse in the 89th. Cheap Chicago Bulls Jerseys . Rookie Jake Locker took over for Hasselbeck late in the third quarter. There was no immediate update from the Titans on the severity of Hasselbecks injury.CALGARY -- The Calgary Stampeders opened training camp with an Australian painter trying out at kicker. Scott Crough has a powerful leg from years of playing Australian rules football. Hes trying to learn the Canadian game on the fly while shaking off heavy jet lag from his arrival in the country last week. "Im trying to get my head around it more and more every day," Crough said Sunday. "Its good to get some live snaps today and get a feel for it. "I didnt kick so well. I think Ive got the bad ones out now, so its all good. Im still a little bit raw, obviously and need to refine everything from the snap to the kick." Crough (pronounced Crow) is a fun subplot to the more traditional discussion points of Calgarys training camp. The housepainter from Melbourne is competing with Rob Maver for the job of punter. How Drew Tate will assert himself during a full season at starting quarterback and how the glut of linebackers will be resolved were some other trending topics at McMahon Stadium on the first day of camp. The absence of quarterback Henry Burris and running back Joffrey Reynolds was glaring because theyve been such fixtures at training camp over the years. Burris was traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in January after seven seasons as starting QB while eight-year veteran Reynolds was released outright. But the Stampeder lineup otherwise looks similar to the one that finished 11-7 and lost in the West Division semifinal to the Edmonton Eskimos last season Slotback Nik Lewiss 30th birthday Sunday coincided with the start of his ninth training camp in Calgary. He acknowledged not having Reynolds around felt strange, but pointed out there are still several familiar faces on offence, including receivers Ken-Yon Rambo and running back Jon Cornish. "It does feel a little different, but its a fresh start," Lewis said. "The defence is still out there flying around, the fact that Drew played last year, you look around the huddle and everybody is still the same pretty much. "I dont think we have too many rookies on offence. Everybody has been here for a couple of years." Calgary hosts Edmonton on June 15 and plays Saskatchewan on June 20 in pre-season games before opening at home July 1 against the Montreal Alouettes. Stampeder head coach and general manager John Hufnagel acquired veteran Kevin Glenn in the Hamilton trade as backup and insurance behind Tate. He also brought a multitude of linebackers for insurance at that position, with six trying out in the middle and another six on the weakside. "Our linebackers last year . . . we were decimated at the position because of injuries so I tried to get as much competition at that position as possible," Hufnagel explained. "We have to find out who not only has ability, bbut who has durability.dddddddddddd" Crough, 31, played the Australian version of football at a senior regional level. His brother Justin played at the highest level in the AFL with Hawthorn. Crough, Rob Maver of Guelph, Ont., and Montreals Rene Paredes are the three kickers in Calgarys camp. Long-time Stampeder punter Burke Dales signed with Edmonton in the off-season. Maver, making a bid for both kicking and punting duties, was injured in the first game of last season and didnt play again. Calgary quickly signed Paredes, who made a seamless transition from university football to the professional ranks by kicking a 50-yard field-goal in his first game. "Its a three-way competition right now," special teams coach Mark Killam said. "Scott is competing with Rob for the punting job, but all three of our kickers are competing every day. They know what the situation is, they know what were looking for and I think its going to be one of those exciting battles in camp." Crough isnt the only punter from Down Under at a CFL training camp. Josh Bartel is on Hamiltons training-camp roster. The two men know each other well. Crough says they were roommates in the United States last summer while waiting for the NFL lockout to end and for opportunities to try out in that league. "We talk quite a bit because were doing the same things on the same days basically," Crough said. "Hes a really good friend and I hope he does well and makes the team." When the Calgary Stampeders found out Crough was on the continent last summer, they put him through a workout, added him to their negotiation list and then signed him in February. Australians are classified as non-imports, which also made Crough attractive to Calgary. "Its a bit of a loophole, I guess, for us to be considered Canadian, but Im happy to run with it," Crough said. Accurate field and goalkicking is crucial in Australian football, which are transferable skills to punting in the CFL. Hufnagel described the leg power of the six-foot-four, 220-pound Crough as unbelievable. "Hes a true two-step power punter," Killam said. "He can hit the ball on the move. Hes used to fielding a football and getting a kick off in a short amount of time." Crough will have to get accustomed to taking the snap and getting a kick away against the rush. If he can do that and earn a job, Crough plans to bring his new wife Denae to Canada. They were married March 31. "Its good to be doing this for a job," he said. "I missed my chance back home at the top level. In some ways Ive got another chance at playing at a top-level sport. "To me, its a great opportunity. I hope I dont let the Stamps down. Theyve shown a lot of faith in me to get me over here." cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
