Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Josh Smith shined in what amounted to a playoff preview, scoring 26 points and grabbing six rebounds, as Atlanta staved off a late rally to edge Orlando, 85-82. Joe Johnson donated 18 points with six boards, Al Horford was a rebound short of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds and Marvin Williams added 10 points for the Hawks, winners in three straight. The Hawks are settled in as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a likely first-round matchup against these very Magic, who dropped their second in a row after a five-game winning streak. The Hawks took three-of-four from Orlando, winning the season series for the first time since the 2006-2007 campaign. The regular season really doesnt matter. Its just about finishing these games out strong and having that momentum going into the playoffs, said Smith. Jameer Nelson led Orlando with 20 points and five assists, Dwight Howard finished with his customary double-double, posting 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Hedo Turkoglu collected 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists in defeat. You watched the game today, I mean they are better than us right now. That is the bottom line, said Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy. I go by things like that. It doesnt mean they will be in the playoffs. I dont think we are afraid to play them. A bucket from Jamal Crawford and a three-point play by Smith increased the lead to 80-72 with just under six minutes to go in the fourth, but Howard scored six straight moments later to draw the visitors within a bucket at 82-80. Nelson made a driving layup to tie the game, but Johnson answered with 55.4 seconds to go. The point guard pulled up and misfired on the next possession, but the Magic forced Johnson to his left and he barely grazed iron on his attempt. After a timeout, the Magic again called Nelsons number, but he couldnt connect from just in front of the charity stripe. Jason Collins was fouled with 5.7 seconds to go and made 1-of-2, keeping the door open for the Magic. Orlando couldnt take advantage, as Turkoglu missed a game-tying attempt at the buzzer. The Magic made 3-of-10 three-pointers in the fourth quarter. A nip-and-tuck opening 12 minutes befitting of these two playoff clubs efficiency finished with the Hawks in front, 27-25, thanks to a Williams three-pointer with 1.6 ticks to go. Orlando came out strong in the second stanza, scoring nine of the first 11 points capped by two Howard free throws for a 34-29 advantage. Atlanta steadied itself, rattling off the next six points, and stayed in front as Smith heated up, scoring the Hawks final 11 points over the last 5 1/2 minutes. He took the basketball strong to the rim with two slams, connected on a long ball, calmly sank two free throws and added to the degree of difficulty with a contested fall away jumper, opening Atlantas halftime margin, 46-43. Smith scored 17 points overall, while Turkoglu paced the Magic with 11. Orlando tied the game at 48 before Smith answered the bell once again, draining a three-pointer almost on cue. Kirk Hinrichs trey broke an all- square contest and Smith allowed with another long ball, opening a 63-57 lead. That six-point margin stood until Zaza Pachulias jumper at the buzzer gave the home team a 69-61 advantage. GAME NOTES:Orlando got back into the game with just one second-half turnover...Brandon Bass finished with 12 points and four rebounds, while Ryan Anderson added 13 points off the bench for the Magic...Crawford added seven points for the Hawks...The Magic were without Chris Duhon (right thumb) and JJ Redick (lower adominal strain). jerseys from china . Murphy, who spent the past seven seasons with the Texas Rangers, must pass a physical before the deal can be completed, the person told The Associated Press on Tuesday night.MEDINAH, Ill. -- Tiger Woods finally showed up at the Ryder Cup. Too bad it wasnt soon enough to count. Woods and Steve Stricker lost their third straight match Saturday, falling 1 up to Sergio Garcia and Luke Donald despite a furious back-nine rally by the worlds No. 2 player. Down 4 at the turn, Woods made four birdies on the last six holes to give the Americans a chance to salvage the match. But he couldnt make the one that mattered, getting the right distance but wrong line on a 22-foot birdie putt that would have been worth a half-point. "We fought hard. Unfortunately, it just wasnt enough," Woods said. "We gave ourselves two good looks and 18, and didnt get it done." The Americans lead Europe 10-6 and need only 4 1/2 points Sunday in singles to regain the cup. But they have gotten nothing so far from Woods, a shock considering the success hes had in match play with Stricker. Woods will face Francesco Molinari in the anchor match. Woods is 13-17-2 in the Ryder Cup, but he seemed to finally have found the right partner in Stricker. They arrived at Medinah with a 6-2 record in match play, including going 2-1 two years ago at Celtic Manor. But they were downright dismal in the opening foursome, and came up against one of the finest single-match performances in Ryder Cup history Friday afternoon. European rookie Nicolas Colsaerts beat Woods and Stricker 1 up without any help from Lee Westwood, making an eagle and eight birdies. For the fourth time in seven Ryder Cups, Woods has left the course the first day without a point, and U.S. captain Davis Love III decided to give him and Stricker a break Saturday morning. "I put so much effort into that last match yesterday afternoon, and I was pretty spent," Woods said. ";Im one of the older guys, and its nice to get a little bit of rest.dddddddddddd" Woods still looked sleepy when it came time to play, and Stricker had to carry them early. Woods knew he had to pick it up, telling former President George H.W. Bush he "needed to play better" when 41 said hello on the sixth hole and asked how things were going. Once Woods got on track, though, he was relentless. He won his first hole on the par-5 10th, running his second shot through a bunker and over the lip before the ball finally came to a stop, 15 feet from the pin. He missed the eagle by 2 feet, but the Europeans conceded anyway. He put his tee shot to 5 feet on the par-3 13th for another win, paring Garcia and Donalds lead to one hole. The Europeans went back up by 2 after Woods missed an 8-footer on 15. But Woods came right back, sticking his approach on 16 to 9 feet and rolling in the putt. He pointed at the hole as the ball dropped in, prompting one of the loudest cheers of the afternoon. "I knew we had to make birdies coming in," Donald said. "You never give up against Tiger and Stricker. They are a formidable pairing and they played great on the back nine." Woods put his tee shot on 17 within 4 feet and Europe captain Jose Maria Olazabal, sitting behind the green, winced. But Donald put his just a hair closer, holding his club high when the ball landed. McIlroy pounded him on the shoulder as they walked to the green, and Donald made the putt to clinch at least a half point. The Americans had one last chance, even after Woods botched his putt. Strickers 7-footer lipped out, however, and the Americans came up empty. Again. "We (won) six out of eight holes and had a chance on 18," Woods said. "Just didnt do it." cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '
