The Columbus Blue Jackets have sent defenceman Kris Russell to the St. Louis Blues for defenceman Nikita Nikitin. Russell has appeared in 12 games for the Blue Jackets this season, scoring twice and adding an assist. The Red Deer, Alberta native has spent his entire career with Columbus since being drafted in the third round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Russell is a veteran of 288 NHL games, netting 18 goals and 61 assists during that span. Nikitin has no points in seven games with the Blues this season and one goal and eight assists in 48 total career games.
