Winnipeg Jets 4 Detroit Red Wings 2 With the win the Jets snap a three-game losing streak and at the same time snap the Red Wings three-game win streak. For the second straight game, but only the fifth time all season, the Jets scored first. Bryan Little, with his team leading 8th goal and 12th point, gave the Jets a 1-0 lead after one, Little scored with one minute left in the period. Little has now scored five goals in the last seven games. The Jets outshot the Wings 14-9 in the first. The Jets used their speed to create a number of good scoring chances, which forced Jimmy Howard to make a number of great saves. At the other end of the ice, Al Montoya was making his third start of the season and was also very good. Detroit took a 2-1 lead in the second on goals by Henrik Zetterberg and Danny DeKeyser, DeKeysers first NHL goal. It was a shorthanded goal and came after a faceoff in the Jets zone. Montoya may have made his best save of the game in the second, stopping Darren Helm on a short-handed breakaway. The Jets kept pressing and Michael Frolik scored his third of the year tying it at two at 17:04. Frolik equaled his goal output from last year, converting a great pass from Mark Scheifele. The Jets had 17 shots on goal in the second. They added another 16 shots in the third, scoring two unanswered goals for the win. Matt Halischuk, with his first as a Jet, gave the Jets the lead at 4:27 of the third as his line with Scheifele and Frolik was again a very good trio. Halischuk goal turned out to be the game winner, the fifth of his career. Andrew Ladd (who was very good in the game) finished off the scoring seconds after coming out of the penalty box. It was his fourth of the year and first in 10 games. The secondary scoring the Jets have been looking for, came through tonight. Five Jets had multiple point games. Ladd, his 59th, Little, his 53rd, Devin Setoguchi, his 50th, Frolik, his 35th and Scheifele had his first multiple point game. The Jets ended the night with 47 shots, tying a season high. It was the first time in six games the Jets scored more than two goals in a game. Montoya finished the night with a 26 save win and has now stopped 93 of 96 shots he has faced this season. Coach Claude Noel would not confirm who his goaltender would be Wednesday in Chicago (TSN, TSN 1290) only to say they would discuss and assess. Montoya was born in Chicago and post-game would only say who starts Wednesday "is the coachs decision." This was Scheifeles best game in the NHL. He won five of nine face-offs, was a plus player, had three shots on goal and used his speed to his advantage. "The chemistry on our line is getting better every game," said Frolik post-game. Coach Noel agreed. "They were our best line last game, they have some chemistry and very reliable defensively." Olli Jokinen was the best face-off man for the Jets winning 11-of-17. Little took 25, winning 13. Blake Wheeler and Zach Bogosian led in the shots department with six each, a season high for both. The only Jet to not register a shot on goal was newcomer Keaton Ellerby. He was very solid in 10:39 of work with a couple of blocked shots. Jets played without Evander Kane, who is day to day with a lower body injury. Jets were also minus Paul Postma, Mark Stuart, Jacob Trouba and Jim Slater because of injuries, while Zach Redmond recalled from St. Johns did not dress. The Jets did not convert on any of the six power play chances but it was the best the power play has looked in quite some time, creating a number of scoring chances with good puck movement. Coach Noel liked what he saw from his team in this game right from the drop of the puck. "The first period was real good. We could have been up by a few. We managed the puck quite a bit better tonight. We got pucks to the goal line and put a lot of pressure on their defence. A lot of guys had a really good game. It was fun to watch our team play that way." Jets are in a busy stretch. In Chicago Wednesday, home to Nashville Friday and San Jose Sunday, then into Detroit for a Tuesday rematch with the Red Wings. Larry Sanders Authentic Jersey . The Vikings announced Saturday they downgraded Peterson from doubtful on the original injury report to out against Detroit Sunday, when the Vikings and Lions will play the last game at the Metrodome. Brandon Knight Authentic Jersey . He missed a three-game series against New York this week after suffering the injury last Sunday while trying to leg out a base hit during a game in Cincinnati. Milwaukee Bucks Jerseys . Garza, who signed a four-year, $50 million deal with the Milwaukee in the off-season, retired the Cubs in order in four of the first six innings. Khris Middleton Bucks Jersey . The Bruins suffered their share of setbacks, a notable one just a week earlier. Once the Pac-12 tournament got rolling, the Bruins took off. NEW YORK -- The New York Rangers escaped with two points they believed they deserved even though they gave up a goal they felt the Toronto Maple Leafs didnt earn. Mats Zuccarello and Derek Stepan scored shootout goals, and backup goalie Cam Talbot earned his second win in two nights as the Rangers shook off a late tying tally and beat the Maple Leafs 2-1 Monday night. The game was forced into overtime because of Nazem Kadris goal with 1:24 left in regulation -- one the Rangers thought shouldnt have counted. After a wraparound attempt, David Clarkson took two whacks at the puck at the right post, and Talbot appeared to cover it, but Kadri came in and poked it in under Talbots pad. The NHL reviewed it in Toronto and said the goal should stand. "In my opinion, that was the wrong call," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "The referee told Brad (Richards) on the ice that if they didnt score on the wraparound, then it wasnt a goal. They didnt score on the wraparound. "The puck was underneath Cams pad. How (the reviewers) saw it differently, Im not quite sure. Youve just got to play through those things, and thats what we did." The Rangers held off the Maple Leafs in a spirited overtime that produced several scoring chances and then outlasted them in the shootout. Zuccarello and Stepan scored in the first two rounds, and Talbot stopped Kadri in the third to end it. Joffrey Lupul was the only Toronto player to score in the tiebreaker. Talbot was relieved the Rangers pulled out the victory. "I would have been pretty devastated, especially with the game we played," he said. "We deserved to win the game, and to get a goal like that against us could have really hurt us, but we kind of let it go, pushed forward and got the eventual game-winner." Jonathan Bernier was exceptional for Toronto, making 42 saves through overtime and allowing only J.T. Millers goal 7:04 into the third period. The Maple Leafs played their third straight shootout and lost for the second consecutive time. They are 2-5-2 in their last nine. "We played a very solid road game," Toronto captain Dion Phaneuf said. "It was very good to get a point." Talbot, starting over slumping No. 1 netminder Henrik Lundqvist for the second sttraight game, bounced back from the late goal and improved to 8-2 in his first NHL season.dddddddddddd He made 24 saves Sunday in a 4-1 win over Minnesota and helped New York finish its team-record, nine-game homestand 3-4-2. He nearly earned his third shutout in 12 career NHL games, all this season. The Rangers next play on Friday at Washington. Who will start in goal then for New York remains to be seen. "It is safe to say that were leaving for the holidays on a much happier note," Vigneault said. "Its going to be a pleasant three days. "My parents are 81 and 79. I havent been home for Christmas with my girls for eight years, so I am looking forward to that." Miller, recalled from Hartford (AHL) on Thursday, scored his second of the season when he came off the bench, streaked down the slot, and took a crisp pass from Chris Kreider from behind the net. Toronto nearly grabbed the lead just over four minutes into the third when Nikolai Kulemin was stopped in front and then had another drive hit the right post, slide along the goal line, and stay out. The no-goal call was confirmed by video review. Bernier kept the Maple Leafs in it, especially during the second period when the Rangers had a 22-5 edge in shots. New York was dominant again in the middle frame one night after a 17-5 advantage against Minnesota when the Rangers scored twice. "I dont think we played our best game, but we hung in there," Bernier said. "We stole a point probably." Bernier got the starting nod from coach Randy Carlyle two nights after he replaced James Reimer, who was pulled against Detroit after giving up three goals on 12 shots in the first period. Bernier made 25 saves in relief, but Toronto was beaten in a shootout. "Our goaltender stood on his head. Thats all you can ask in a game like this one," Carlyle said. NOTES: Talbot made back-to-back starts two other times this season but not on consecutive days. ... Rangers D Marc Staal took a hard skate Monday morning, while recovering from a concussion, and could be nearing a return. Staal missed his eighth game since he was struck in the head by the arm of New Jerseys Reid Boucher on Dec. 7. ... Reimer had started three straight games for the first time this season before Monday. cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '
