UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Ilya Bryzgalov was less than seven minutes from the rare NHL feat of four straight shutouts, and he showered his teammates with praise after a close win over the New York Islanders. The Russian-born Bryzgalov, who signed a nine-year $51 million contract with Philadelphia last summer and has struggled at times this season, made 29 saves to lead the Flyers over the Islanders 3-2 on Thursday night for their seventh win in eight games. Zac Rinaldo, Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell scored for Philadelphia (41-22-7), which stayed two points behind Pittsburgh for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The Penguins beat the New York Rangers 5-2 to move within four points of first in the conference. "Its a great team accomplishment," said Bryzgalov, who set a Flyers record with a shutout streak of 249:43. "All the players in front of me have been doing a tremendous job. They deserve the credit." Michael Grabner ruined Bryzgalovs shutout bid on his 16th goal with 6:30 left. John Tavares added his career-best 31st goal 35 seconds later, but New York couldnt muster a tying goal as the Islanders lost their fifth straight. Bryzgalov broke the previous Flyers shutout mark of 227:40 set by John Vanbiesbrouck from Oct. 17-27, 1999. Before Grabners goal, Bryzgalov hadnt allowed a tally since Johan Franzen of Detroit scored in the third period of a game on March 6. Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said he hasnt perceived a difference in Bryzgalovs work ethic or game-day approach during his hot streak. The coach said his clubs overall effort has been at the forefront. "He comes to work every day, always very focused," Laviolette said. "Hes really the one who kept us in games early in the season. Now youre seeing what Bryz can do when we play well in front of him. Quietly, he has shut the door." Brzygalov also had a shutout streak of 249:14 during the 2006 playoffs when he was with the Anaheim Ducks. The Flyers have won 25 of the last 28 meetings with the Islanders dating to March 2008. Theyve also won 13 of the last 14 at Nassau Coliseum, including all three games this season. The Islanders (28-32-11) fell into a tie with Montreal for last in the East. The defeat was their fourth straight one-goal loss. "We had chances but no second opportunities," Tavares said. "Its unacceptable." Bryzgalov almost became the first non-North American goaltender to record four straight NHL shutouts. Fellow Russian Nikolai Khabibulin had shutouts in three straight games for Phoenix in March 1997. "Im really just happy we keep winning," he said. "That is the bottom line." Rinaldo scored his second of the season on a sharp-angle shot from along the goal line, beating Evgeni Nabokov at 8:41 of the first period. Rinaldo shot the puck from Nabokovs right, banking it off the goaltenders left pad and into the net. Giroux scored his career-best 26th goal of the season on a snapshot from the slot with 6:34 to go in the first period and Hartnell made it 3-0 with his 33rd at 7:02 of the second. "Our major job is to keep playing hard and stay focused on the task at hand -- home ice in the playoffs," Giroux said. "Having a goaltender with confidence is huge for us this time of year." Brian Boucher had five straight shutouts for Phoenix in 2003-04 with a shutout sequence of 332:01. Bouchers accomplishment broke the then-record of four straight shutouts held by Montreals Bill Durnan, who had a 309:21 streak in 1948-49. Alec Connell of the 1927-28 Ottawa Senators recorded six straight shutouts before the NHLs so-called "modern era" began in 1943-44 with the addition of a centre red line. Connell didnt allow a goal for 461:29. NOTES: Referee Stephane Auger had to be helped from the ice after he was accidentally struck in the face by MacDonalds stick 6 minutes into the third period. He returned with three minutes left ... With 82 points, Giroux is third in league scoring behind Pittsburghs Evgeni Malkin and Tampa Bays Steven Stamkos. ... Jaromir Jagr, who had an assist on Girouxs goal, has more points against the Islanders than any other NHL team with 60 goals and 85 assists in 97 games. Nike Zoom Fit Agility Multicolor . The Miami Heat almost could not. Ray Allens 3-pointer with 22.6 seconds left gave Miami the lead, LeBron James finished with 23 points and the Heat rallied late to beat the Spurs 105-100 on Thursday night -- digging deep despite San Antonios decision to have four top players resting at home in a move that bothered NBA Commissioner David Stern. Nike Air Max Køb Online . Carolina Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford confirmed on Saturday that the former New York Islanders goaltender had signed on for a 25-game professional tryout with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, Carolinas AHL affiliate. http://www.shopmax90dk.net/ . James Edmondson, who won his third Colonial club championship last year, told Palmer that a birdie would match the caddies low round at Hogans Alley. "What do you do when you get that thrown at you," Palmer said. Nike Air Max 90 Kvinder Danmark . Rayo Vallecano and Elche also had players dismissed but both earned victories away from home, while Sevilla conceded two goals in the last 10 minutes to slip to a 2-2 draw at Valladolid. Visiting Getafe was helped by a disastrous day for Granadas centre backs, with one being sent off early and the other opening the scoring with an own goal. Nike Air Max Hvid Dame Tilbud . And he has responded by stepping up his play. Griffin had 26 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 112-95 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Friday night. The Grey Cup has the attention of the entire nation this weekend, however the staff of Ottawa RedBlacks is focused on an event that is a few weeks away. With the December 16th expansion draft less than a month away, Ottawa is yet to hire a head coach but general manager Marcel Desjardins plans to use this weekend to rub elbows with prospective head coaches. "We all know how important this hire is going to be. So we have to put in our due diligence," Desjardins told the Ottawa Sun. "Without getting into specifics, there are some coaches interested who you may be familiar with from the past and some not quite as familiar; some are intriguing, some are not." A source told The Sun the RedBlacks have spoken with former Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach and current TSN analyst, Paul LaPolice. Also on the list of candidates are former Hamilton Tiger-Cats head coach Marcel Bellefeuille, who joined the Blue Bombers as offensive co-ordinator in mid-season and Calgary Stampeders offensive co-ordinator Dave Dickenson. Bellefeuille is fromm Ottawa, went to Ridgemont High School and later played, then coached with the Gee-Gees.dddddddddddd. Desjardins is prepared to let the timing of the coaching process play itself out. "In an ideal world, wed have somebody in place (before the expansion draft)," he told the Sun. "But we could go into January without a coach. Its not like we control all the elements. Its not like were the only team whos looking for a coach." Desjardins has an idea of his criteria for the next head man. "(Whoever we hire) has to have CFL experience, not necessarily as a head coach," he said. "That doesnt mean he has to have been a coach this year. Were not going to reach out to people we know dont have a chance of getting the job. "Its a three-step process. First, theres an informal get-to-know interview. Then, theres a more detailed discussion, more specific to football. Give us reasons why we should hire you. In some cases, weve had to combine steps 1 and 2. In step No. 3, we get into more detail." cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys wholesale jerseys cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys Mamadou Tounkara Jersey ' ' '
