SAN ANTONIO -- Christopher Gibson made 34 saves in his American Hockey League debut as the Toronto Marlies beat the host San Antonio Rampage 4-2 on Sunday. Defenceman T.J. Brennan scored the winning goal and added an assist for the Marlies (10-7-1) while Spencer Abbott, Troy Bodie and Jerry DAmigo scored the others. John-Michael Liles chipped in with two assists. Greg Rallo and Colby Robak supplied the offence for the Rampage (9-9-1), who lost for the first time in three outings. San Antonios Jacob Markstrom stopped 24-of-27 shots in a losing cause. Gibson was given his first start for Toronto after being summoned from the ECHL on Nov. 19th. The 20-year-old played seven games with the Orlando Solar Bears, posting a 2-4-1 record with a 2.70 goals-against average and .901 save percentage. The Rampage put 19 shots on Gibson in the opening period, however only Robak could get one past him as San Antonio took a 1-0 lead into first intermission. Abbott responded with a power-play goal for the Marlies just 49 seconds into the second period and Bodie gave Toronto its first lead at 18:43. The lead didnt last long, though, as Rallo tied the game while on the power play 59 seconds later. The game remained 2-2 until 16:05 of the third when Brennan scored Torontos second power-play goal of the game while Jed Ortmeyer was in the box serving a minor for interference.
