ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford has undergone season-ending knee surgery, which was postponed earlier this month due to swelling. Coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday that Dr. James Andrews did the operation to repair a torn left ACL a day earlier in Pensacola, Fla. Andrews also operated on the quarterbacks shoulder at Oklahoma. Fisher said trainer Reggie Scott, who accompanied Bradford, told him the procedure went well. "He said everything went very, very well," Fisher said. "Its a very, very healthy knee considering the circumstances, and so they were pleased." When the operation was pushed back, Fisher said the Rams anticipated Bradford would be ready for next seasons opener. Bradford was the first overall pick of the 2010 draft. The Rams (4-6) returned from their bye with a light workout Tuesday, feeling energized. "It helps 1,000 per cent," defensive tackle Michael Brockers said. "I think thats what the bye week is for, so your body can rest. Youre starting to feel those bumps and bruises, and all the joints and stuff get to heal. "I feel great." Fisher and his staff got some time off, too. Earlier Tuesday, he told players it was time to go back to work. "I just kind of reminded them this morning that Im sure everybody had a good time, but those that are out of the NFL, thats what they do every weekend," Fisher said. Fisher shed some light on an injury that sidelined backup quarterback Brady Quinn not long after he signed with the Rams in late October, saying the issue was with the lower back. It had been listed as a hip injury. The Rams signed Quinn and Austin Davis to back up Kellen Clemens after Bradford was sidelined in a loss at Carolina in Week 7, but Quinn only lasted a few practices. "Brady had some issues with his low back in the weight room," Fisher said. "It was just kind of a very freak thing, and were trying to get him back as quick as we can." Today, we look back at Boston Strong - a citys recovery from tragedy. Patriots Day is traditionally a big day in Boston - a holiday Monday with the Marathon in the morning and a Red Sox matinee. Its truly a day when the city takes centre stage. But the 2013 Marathon put the eyes of the world on Boston for horrifying and nearly unthinkable reasons. At 2:49pm et on Apr. 15 - two hours after the winners had crossed the finish line but a time when more than 5,000 runners were still on the course – two blasts shook the city. Two bombs, placed 190 metres apart just before the finish line, went off killing three people and injuring nearly 300 others. It put Boston at a standstill, as the incident and the aftermath became a global focal point. A city-wide manhunt ensued to find the culprits, shutting down the city and postponing a game at TD Garden between the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators. The city came together to aid its own recovery in the aftermath of both the bombings and the manhunt, rallying around the mantrra of Boston Strong.dddddddddddd The city no longer wanted to live in fear of terrorist threats and preferred to rally around images like a flexing David Ortiz standing on second base at Fenway Park. And Bostons teams responded in kind. The Bruins mounted a comeback for the ages after nearly allowing the Toronto Maple Leafs to erase a 3-1 series deficit in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Facing exhaustion in their 13th game in 24 days and down three goals with just 11 minutes remaining in Game 7, the Bruins rallied. They would prevail over the Leafs, then the Rangers, then Sidney Crosby and the Penguins before taking the Chicago Blackhawks to six games in a losing Cup Final effort. While their quest would fall short, the Red Sox would pick up where the Bruins left off. The Sox would go on a seven-game win streak starting on Apr. 15, forming the foundation for a strong regular season that saw them win their first American League East title in six seasons.
